'Big' school recommendations -table view/blouberg?

Hi Emmas - we hav decided on CBC and will start there next year. If you put your name down there they phone u in April the year before baby turns 4, and u then make the decision as to weather u want to send her there. Parklands and Elkanah both require immediate deposits to secure a place. All three have open days every couple of months - check the table talk for dates and u can go and look. My sister had her LG at Elkanah and it it really a lovely school - with a caring feeling.
We decided on CBC as DH is an old boy and because of the Christian ethos, with focus largely on accademics. I have also spoken to many parents who are very happy there, and know some of the teachers.

Emmas - I have a nearly two year old daughter and I dont know any parents at the schools I would like my kid to go to but what I did do was decide what it is that I was looking for and then decided a girls school would be best and then I called up all the schools getting all the info from the number of students in a class to when registration takes place, current fees, certain of the schools had preferences as to which pre-schools were feeder schools and so forth so all handy info that one needs to know and then I made a shortlist from the the info. One of the schools I had called had a waiting list for 2015 and I wudve been about number 40 on the list as others had applied during pregnancy...lol

thanks everyone for the feedback. Maybe there is another forum somewhere where more school-going children's parents hang out. (though i have looked!)

Emmas I think majority of the moms and the odd dad here do not have school going kids as yet.

I have friends at with kids at all the schools you have mentioned and they all seem to be quite similar. Ideally you should visit the schools and see how you feel about them.

I have friends with children in Blouberg Ridge and they are all happy there, but I really do not know anything about the school. The playground looks good (went to a birthday party there once)

Lilliputt was the first and last school I went to see, cos I just loved the whole atmosphere, so I'm sorry if I can not offer more assistance with that.

I must say I'm quite disappointed Is there nobody out there at all who have kids in schools in the table view area? No recommendations/advice at all? I have scoured the internet and cannot find ANY useful info other than school websites. Don't parents speak about their children's schools at all? I was really hoping for some feedback from this forum
Its such a huge decision and SO many to choose from out there - how on earth are 1st time mommies supposed to decide where to register their kids for school? eeny meeny mine mo?

Lilliputt, Lilliputt & Lilliputt !!!! The earliest they will take a child is the year they turn 4, so 3 turning 4. And they start with the registration the year before in about July / August

The school has been around forever, most of the teachers have been there since they started teaching, so almost zero staff turn around, which gives great stability to the children.

Each class has a teacher and an assistant, and classes are about 20 - 26 children per class - I think the Rainbow Class (baby class) has an extra helper. The Rainbow class also has a seperate play area.

The grounds are MASSIVE and the play equipment varied and in excellent condition - they have a maintance chappie on site who repairs immediately

There is a small petting zoo with bunnies, ducks, chickens a tortoise or two. Evry week 1 class is responsible for bring food for the animals which also teaches caring for animals a responsibility

The are VERY fussy about food and beverages which is great (well I think so), so no white bread, sugar, juice (only water), but they are allowed to take a special treat on Fridays

Each class has a baking day where they make muffins, decorate biscuits, make soup etc

I can go on and on about just how awesome this school is, but pop in and have a look - the play ground will really do it for you !
