Well done Spirited Mama!

I know our time will come, but its getting expensive. My LG insists on a new nappy after each wee.... and I really don't think my LB is ready yet, he'll be 2 in Dec, but I joke that he'll be off nappies before her!

Hey GW, I nearly lost it with DH. But I didn't want to cause a scene as we were also on our way to brunch... So I ignored it! And Dh brought it up again. If I feel as if I'm about to lose it with either one of them I walk away... I've noticed that both of them notices this and they approach me...

The whole day he was wearing undies. Was all good until just before we got home. I suspect that he peed as I walked around the car to take him out the seat. Well, that was the only one for today. So far so good.

I really wanted to let him sleep in his undies but I'm studying and DH is sick, woke last night with tummy bug and is basically dying cos of it - LMAO, and really didn't want to upset anyone, so I just put the nappy on just before bedtime. He did throw the "baby thing" at me as I was getting him ready for bed, and I firmly said that I've had enough of it. And that was the end of it. Let's hope it stays that way.

I'm definitely removing the night nappy this weekend.

Spirited Mama: My LG has been "playing the baby game" for almost a year now. She starts to crawl and talks like a baby etc. My therapist told me that I should start to "play along" by getting another doll pretending that the doll is a baby. Then the two of you play together "baba baba". Get out the baby powder and pretend to change the nappy, rub baby oil on the doll etc. Make some porridge and give that to your child and to the doll as well. Play this game everyday untill he has had enough! It really helped us. Whenever she starts to say that she is a baby again, we play the game again!

Shame, yes, I am sure everyone loses their cool at some point. But, yes, the damage you cause will take a long time to repair!

Great thread. Joshua has been playing with me as he wears undies at school but at home he insists on wearing a nappy. I too believed that thhe child will let us know when he is ready. Well, I think my son seems to want to be my baby again. As he even tells me "I'm your baby" and then acts like one....
This past weekend I decided enough, and we were in undies all weekend. Accidents and all. I did use a nappy at night time though.... This morning he went to school in his undies. When he woke I took him to the toilet and that was that. So I'm crossing my fingers. And hoping that this was what he needed. I just might drop the night nappy this weekend....

Good luck to all.

P.S. My Dh lost his cool with the accidents and I think that just makes things worse. Joshua sees how upset his Dad gets and it definitely ismn't helping... I'm gonna have a chat with DH, cos he feels that he can help with all kinds of things but potty training and accidents is his limits.... I was so mad yesterday. WTF? I never asked him to deal with a wet underpants!!!! And now I never will! I also think that I'm slightly hormaonal and highly stressed as I have exams coming up soon....

Thanks MommyN and Klk!

Being a first time mom means that you often "experiment" with different ideas, not all good ideas always.

Looking back at the Urologists words "pottytrain her as quickly as possible" (due to her bladder problems)" wasn't the wisests words to a first time mom! Although I knew I wasn't suppose to pressure her, I kept thinking of the Urologists words.
But you can only bring a horse to the water and not force it to drink hey?

I have heard so many moms say: I have 6 months to pottytrain my child because my child is enrolled for school next year and she must be pottytrained. Now, I quietly grin knowing that pottytraining doesn't work that way! It is not something you force onto the child like good table manners.

Best advise you can give GW....Totally agree, when they are ready they will do it. My LB is pretty much done too. I still use a night nappy but honestly I dont think I need to do that anymore but I may still carry on for a while longer.

Congrats by the way :)
