Thanks 1st Timer...
Will have a look at the birth stories thread now!

Personally I feel that the birth ais a big issue for me! It's scary, and making me quite nervous. I have no issues with the baby, and have everything else down to the T.
I've had tons of experience with kids since a very young age, the only difference is this time, baby will be mine lol.
I don't really like going under the knife, and am not too sure I would handle the pain all that well either.... I'm a huge scardey - cat!
I'd rather just get it over with!

Thanks once again for all the advice! (HUGS)

Btw, I know lots of people are worried about the spinal and I would assume that is fairly similar to an epidural of you decide to have one during a natural birth but I want to assure you it is absolutely not sore. Not even a little bit. And I HATE injections! Seriously, I pass out at a blood test pretty much! So don't worry about that :)

What a caesar? For me no it really wasn't. It was a great experience and I was up and around within 24h and completely normal by 1 week. I took no pain meds at all after leading the hospital on day 4.

BUT I have friends that had pain for ages so I think it depends on the person, the doctor, the surgery and just luck.

I have noticed that the friends of mine that elected for a caesar with no qualms had less difficulty that those with emergency Caesars or even those that had an elective but were conflicted about it. But that might be coincidence. It's great to go in with a plan of what you want birthwise but remember the end goal is a healthy baby so try not to get too hang up on the birth.

I spent months and months researching my caesar and what would happen and how it would feel etc but really the baby is coming out one way or another and I promise the baby is far more scary and consuming than the birth is! Personally I wish I had spent more time researching breastfeeding, swaddling and burping than birth options! But that is just me - I know many women who feel the birth (natural, assisted or caesar) was a major definitive moment for them. When my gynae first handed me my son my first reaction was "wtf? There's a baby? That's unexpected!"

You can read about my caesar on the birth stories topic. I kept a (very!) honest diary!

Most docs will go with your preferences unless there is a medical necessity.

I was an elective caesar from the start so was never an issue for me :)

Good luck!

Hi 1st Timer...

I've heard that as well! Am very against a C-Section, and would like to think that the docs would go with patients pref before just wanting to cut and get it over with!

My sister is a kinesiologist, and was recently telling me about how developmentally CS babies are slower than babies bornnaturally. Apparently the whole birthing process kick starts the brain and helps later on in life. She says she can see it in her son (born by CS) - compared to her girls, she says he is very different!

fx that I never have to cut!
