Charnenay - that is so cute :D but yes I can only imagine how embarrassed you must have been! I am sure they will forgive you :)

Evan is also not eating to well, have to practically force feed him!

Dont stress about bottle holding, Evan also only holds his bottles when he feels like it.

PM you must be so proud! What a fantastic achievement!!! and Yay for Iz being a little angel :D

Jeanine - Well done on all the milestones! Willem is so strong :cheer: I love the bath time pic - he is such a cuttie pie!!

BabyK, have the bank been able to sort you out yet?? It's so shocking how easy it is for them to steal our money! and then you have to beg your bank for assistance... There's a lady here at the office who is having the exact same issues with you and she also banks with Std bank. She got scammed at a restaurant. I really hope you get refunded ASAP.

How're the holiday preparations going?? I am sure your kitties will be just fine :) It is actually so nice going away with LO.

BTBM, I love your family pic. Too gorgeous!

KerryA - I am glad you found some sort of solution to getting LO back to sleep... Evan woke up twice last night. 1am for dummy. 4:20am for his bottle. He refused to have his night time bottle last night... He shuts his mouth and shakes his head and that is that... I just need a good nights sleep! I swear I am tempted to ship him off to Granny for the night just so I can sleep :$

Shame Cols - sounds hectic, does seem like maybe he just had a bit of motion sickness.

Jeanine - Beautiful pics of Willem - how gorgeous :) Amazing how mobile they have all become!!!

The waking through the night seems to be happening to most of us at round about this age!! Emily also waking up about 4 or 5 times just for her dummy. Not as bad as it was a few weeks ago though, so I'm really happy about that.

Still concerned about the eating though - not much eating happening here at the moment :(

BTW - are your LO's holding their own bottles yet?? emily does sometimes and other times she wants me to hold it, but I saw another baby on Saturday same age as her and she is a pro at holding her own bottle already - just wondering if she is being really lazy???

Speaking of Saturday - we had a breakfast arranged by our church for "parents with strollers" at Bloemendal restaurant on Saturday morning. Emily was on the floor next to me, when a little girl of 11.5 months came crawling over to play with her, Emily leaned over and gave the girl a "kiss" and while we are all ooohing and aaahing, the little girl starts screaming at the top of her lungs!!! Turns out emily was not kissing her, she was biting her  I was mortified!! And the WORST part is, the louder this girl cried, the louder Emily squealed with laughter!!!!! The more I scold her, the more she laughed!!!!!! Talk about embarassing!!!!! I think we might be banned from future breakfasts :(

Hi ladies

just a quick post... Went to the ENT on Friday. He put a scope in Evan's ear and we saw the ear drum. It is still inflamed but not infected. Evan has to have cortizone nosedrops - twice daily for 2 weeks.

We are going to see him again in 3 weeks. if the fluid still hasnt drained we will have to get grommets to drain his ears. The thing is the longer the pressure is on his eardrums the longer his hearing, balance, sleeping and eating will be affected. The dr said that his ears must still be hurting a bit because of the pressure...

Evan also seems more interested in what I am eating than purity.

The weekend was lovely. We had a fun time and Evan got to hang out with his granny and grandpa :)

The problem was coming home :( I was hugging the toilet the whole of saturday night. Sunday morning I was wrecked! I was so tired and naar. We were 10 minutes out the resort when I started throwing up in a bag in the back of the car (classy hey!). It was terrible! Then we got stuck in stop/go road works. Evan then pooed so I had to change his nappy. So we were stuck in the car / in the rain / on the road with 2 stinky packets. It was torture! We were just outside harrysmith when Evan started throwing up all over himself.

It was horrible. Luckily there was a Caltex 1stop thing just was we pulled into harrysmith so I ran with Evan in his car chair, nappy bag in hand into the loo. There was a cleaning lady there (Maggy) she took Evan's clothes, toys and car chair while I was wiping him down and changing him. She washed the car chair cover and dried it under the drier for me then she rinsed all his clothes and toys and put them in a big black bag for me! What an angel.

It all seemed to pass well... I was wiped out but managed to get some rest last night. Evan didnt throw up again so I dont know if it was just a little motion sickness for him?

I could not wake up this morning... I was wiped out. Evan woke up once for a bottle at about 1 and then his 5 am bottle. I've put the heater in his room and extra blankets on his bed. I cannot believe how freezing cold it is here at the moment...

Morning Ladies,

PM, Congrats on you SA CHAMPS!!! You must all bs SO proud :woohoo: :woohoo:

Blessed, Hello stranger ;) Willem also did the 3am wakings, and would also ONLY settle with a feed. Went on for a while (feels like months, was likely only a few days, maybe 2 weeks most - sleep deprivation seems to cloud memory ;) )

Anyway, just when I thought that this might become a habit, he started sleeping through again
He still has his crying fits, but they seem to happen much earlier now. He goes to sleep around 7:30-8, cries around 9-10 - cuddling, dummy and rocking back to sleep - and then sleeps through (most nights) till 3/4 am - dummy run, and then sleeps till 6am when he gets his milk. This morning he actually went till 7 - must be the weather ;)

Well, some milestones to report on ;).
Willem is getting much better with the crawling, he is starting to lift himself up on his knees! Will go one or two 'steps', and then back down to stomach again :silly:.
He pulls himself up on anything and everything! He is also learning to sit back down (vs the 'falling over'), and reaching down to pick up his toys one handed, while standing.
He is getting very silly/brave, a few times now I've seen him stand up, and let go with BOTH hands!!

And then the best for last - On Saturday, DH ran his finger along Willem's bottom gums, and told me 'its feels different, like something is scratching him' - this was then verified by me, both aunties and his grandparents - Willem has his FIRST TOOTH!! Only one, and the tip is barely through, but its there :woohoo: :silly: :woohoo: :silly:.

Tried to get a pic of the tooth, but after all the fingers he had in his in his mouth over the weekend, he is not allowing ANYBODY close .

Here is some other pics

Love his bath

No, its NOT for sitting, its for standing!!

What greets me every morning (and some late nights)

Pinkmommy - CONGRATS!!! :cheer:  :cheer:

Blessed to be - :-) Hello stranger :-) Good to see you and little Armand are doing so wonderfully!

Yes the sleeping thing seems to be linked to a sudden mass deveopment atchievement around this time, Girly was also going through it and My little one did it... Its terrible, where Kaelyn would just stir around 3 she suddenly started waking up and crawling around her crib. The only thing that would get her to sleep again was a feed.

but we then when that became a routine feed we thought we would maybe feed her later at night so the one friday we went out and she had her 7:30 feed and went to sleep when we got home at ten i thought let me feed her before i out her down... she still woke at three, so it obviously wasnt hunger waking her. She even started sleeping trough a night or two in between the 3am wakings

so i just resigned myself to feeding at three and again at five every couple of nights... i mean it cant be all that bad for her...

Ha Ha Ha... it started happing more and more often and then even the feed wasnt getting her back to sleep.... now i am really bad without sleep... when i have slept i have a Halo... when i haven't there are these two red horns that get higher and higher...

anyway last night i had enough of rocking her back to sleep every third night or so... i checked her bum... put her in the crib gave her her dummy said goodnight and stood in the passage listening to her cry... oh my word it hurt... she never never cries! and she was screaming...

DH came out to see or actually he thought the dog in the bed next to him was me, and figured i had just had enough of it and he better go

anyhow i went back in a few times put her back on her side, rubbed her back till she was calm and walked out, and, within less time than the rocking her was taking, she got the message, gave in and went to sleep...

when i got back to bed i looked the rocking was taking about 35 - 40 mins, this only took 20. Okay it felt like hours though!

Lets hope i have the strength to stick with it long enough for it to make a difference!

Girly how is your little princess coming along? Has she gotten through it yet?

Baby K - Wow sounds like a busy household at the moment - your Kitty's will be fine :-) Congrats on John's milestones its soo wonderful when they go through these development spurts!

Robyn - Don't worry you can get quiet innocent revenge when you go back :-)

Morning ladies

How is everyone? I am busy busy trying to finish my work and start packing for holiday and organising the cats and the housesitters etc.

PM, well done on your SA Champs! What a proud mommy you must be and well done on managing it all by yourself. Hope your hand is better soon and great to hear that your mom is doing good.

How was the Cpt Mommies meet?

John's progress has been really phenomenal the last week or so. He has finally learnt to flip from his back to his tummy and now I keep finding him in his cot flipped over and looking very pleased with himself. He doesn't really cry now when he's on his tummy and he pushes up high with his arms and flips his legs back like a fish, its soooo cute. I just want to squeeze him.

Cols, how was your weekend away? And what did the ENT say? I think maybe Evan's teeth are still coming through - John's 2 bottom ones broke through the gums and then took about 2 weeks to 'grow' to full height so its probably still sore for them. Poor things, this teething thing is the pits. I think I should get him an amber necklace. Who's got one for their LO's and do you think it really works? I must say that I think Prodol is the bomb - he doesn't let me rub it on his gums or he tries to bite my finger with his bottom teeth so I put it on his rubber toothbrush and then he bites on that and the next thing he is feeling much happier.

Lovely photo Blessed - what a happy family :)

Aaaaa I can't wait to be at the beach! 3 more days.... this preparation and packing is hectic though, feel like I should just take John's entire bedroom contents :cheer: And I feel so bad about putting the cats in a cattery. They've stayed there before but I still feel guilty, especially now that its so cold on Jozi and they are used to being warm. The cattery has 'underfloor heating' under their bedding so I am definitely going to ask them to put it on for them :P

Ja Joburg moms, I don't know if it was Wimpy where my card was skimmed. Apparently they don't even need a machine to swipe it through these days, they can access the digital signature with a scanner device in their pocket or bag or whatever, so as long as they can see you put your pin in then they can pretty much do it anywhere - how scary is that? Thank goodness I go on internet banking regularly and now I have sms notification whenever money is withdrawn. But still, I have heard some horror stories of Standard Bank not reimbursing the clients' money so pray for me that I get my money back.

Anyways, on a lighter note, I hope you all have amazing weeks and a wonderful Easter. Now the public holidays start so everyone can slow down a little B)
Yesterday was Palm Sunday and Johnny was so cute, waving his palm frond around with all the other kiddies in the cry room at Church.

Here is a pic of him eating my cell phone cover a few weeks ago...
