Hi everyone
Sorry for my absence. Been a rough few days for us.
We took Kaylee to the paediatrician today, and he is very happy with her yay! She weighed 3.6kgs with fleece her top on, so around 3.4 without it which is spot on where she should be basis last Tuesday's 3.16. Her cut has a bit of an infection where the knot was made, so we have to give it extra care now. Doctor at least took the stitch out so now it should heal nicely. I just feel awful as we have a tape over it, and have to pull it off each time we clean it, and its sticky and hurts her when we do
About the vacs, I was gonna take her to a pharmacy clinic but they dont have stock of prevenar so would have paid R600 or something just for that. So the breastfeeding clinic have stock and even though they have a very high admin fee (R440) for the government one, on this occasion it works out cheaper than going to the other clinic.
We go for the vacs next Thursday.
Seems we are all going through the colicy stage now. Kaylee has had a few very difficult nights. Tuesday I was up from 2 - 5am with her and nothing seemed to help except to be on the breast. She seems to be very niggly between 7 - 11pm the last 3 nights and nothing we do actually consoles her. It's really tough as its the time DH is home and means we have no evening to speak of. It is definitely putting some strain on our relationship, and we have fought more the last week than in the last 2 years.
Babyzee awesome re the smile!!! How old is he now?
Kaylee gave us one smile last week, but nothing since. We are waiting patiently for this, our second big milestone. She lifts her head really high for quite long periods and turns her head from side to side quite nicely. I'm such a proud mom.
Kerry shame hun! Just as well you followed your gut and took her. Imagine how she'd have been if you hadn't. How exactly was the doctor able to pick it up / how did he know to test for it?
BabyKsmom congrats on John

Wow your baby is 3 weeks old and was bigger at birth than Kaylee is now!
How is the mastitis going for you? Shame it cant be nice. You're the 3rd August girl I know whose had it. The antibiotics should work quickly.
Sounds like your little one is an absolute angel! K very seldomly falls asleep on her own, we have to rock her or feed her or swing her to sleep so you are lucky.
Breastfed baby's eat 2-4hourly during the day so you're doing pretty good with 3-4hourly. K feeds 2.5-3.5hourly during the day.
Ive heard not to introduce bottle before 6 weeks to avoid nipple confusion. If you really want a break why not express some feeds? Remember that formula requires work too - preparation, cleaning etc so you should toss up each.
M2J wow active already! I dont know how you do it. I am dreading the internal as I also need a pap smear and I believe its very painful.
JeanineK congratulations

so glad to see you online. I'd love to have a MIL next door you're so lucky!
Let me know how the nuk teats go - K refuses her Nuk! Apparently after the first morning feed is when your milk is 'most' so maybe express after that feed? Or post a question on the forum to hear from other ladies how they express but without skipping a feed. I also want to do that in a couple weeks so that weekends I can have some time for myself. But remember if you skip a feed your breasts wont stop producing milk so they might become full & leak. Please keep me posted on how that goes, keen to hear.
Nikki how is the swing? Saw your pics, so cute! Did you get the honey dummy? And how is it working?
Charnenay hows that routine going? Still extremely jealous of you. But I want to continue demand feeding her. So we do things to her needs not her to ours. I dont feel its right for me to do that at such a young age.
Judes mom re the bath - are you filling it properly so that she is lying in water? They like water so make sure you dont just have part of her submerged, try have her tummy and bum and legs and back covered.
Charnenay how was date night? I'm not ready to leave her alone yet. While I'm breastfeeding will just have to contend with not having much me time or us time.
Re the deed - I'm in no mood for that. Rather tired and possibly some pnd so I really am not looking forward to it even though I know DH is struggling. I cant seem to get my head around the idea of doing it when so many other needs are not being met.
We definitely experiencing colic at night. Between 7 - 11 she is very niggly and fights her sleep so bad. The bathing seems to wake her up so will have to figure that out.
Anyway gotta go. Baby is crying gotta calm her down.
