Wow! That is very funny, the similarities and the jumping up at 4 in the morning! Alexander also immitates the hadidas and it is so cute: ha haaa. Sometimes I don't even hear the hadidas. The funny thing is, we were in the car with my mom and I told her how he immitates them and how I think that is just so cool. Then she said: "Een van die dae gaan jy vir hom vra hoe maak die hadida, dan se hy hadida'." The next moment, coming from the back of the car came: "hadida". We looked at each other in shock, and then laughed so hard that he started crying. I don't think he will say that word again soon...

It's amazing how you say something to them and forget about it and out of the blue comes the word. Like saying "klaar" (kaa) when you get to the end of a book. He absolutely loves books. He also started immitating a duck (ke ke ke, for quack) when he saw a bowl in the shape of a duck at friends of us. They are truly little spunges!

Hey Rakker, this is sooo cool!!! Your baby sounds like mine :) He also said hadida the other day :woohoo: And he pointed at the hadida on the roof and said "bo" The problem is that now he jumps up at 4 in the morning when they start to ha haa haaa!!! The he immitates them :) And my MIL showed him a "blom" about 2 weeks ago and I forgot about it.. and yesterday in the shop he pointed towards a flower decoration and said "blo" .. that was just so cute!

This issue only becomes sensitive when we start to compare our kids.

They all get there in the end - I am not sure when Stephen Hawkins and Bill Gates crawled or walked, but it probably had no affect on whether they did well in life of not.

By daughter is 10.5 months and only started crawling a month ago - she just showed no interest in it at all. About a week ago she started cruising.

I have stopped checking the charts for the right age for kids to do things as it just stresses me. She is not saying mom or dad or pass me more Purity - and I am sure there are babies her age out there stringing sentences together already.

Right now I am grateful for the silence, and that I do not have to run after her - in two or three months this will all change, and I will miss the quiet non-walker!

The pead also said I can bring in LB if he doesn't walk at 18 months, so it seems there is consensus about the 18 month thing. My LB only started crawling at 12 months and a week or so. He didn't do any type of crawling before that. He is now almost 14.5 months, and not walking yet. I don't think it will be long now, but he is rather slow with the gross motor milestones. I also got worried when I saw all his class mates are so far ahead in terms of that, but I know kids are not the same.

I had him at a physio and she gave some exercises and he started crawling shortly after that. And you know what? He is such a bright boy (he said "hadida" the other day, beat that) that I couldn't give a rat's ass () if he only walks at 18 months. People tend to focus so much on the gross motor milestones and it really irritates me at times. Sorry, I am a bit sensitive about this as I felt like a failure as mother just because my kid crawled late.

huni, really dont worry, i have 3 kids and all of them are different, ange also only started to crawl at 10 months and then only stood on her own at about 13 months and only first step by 15 months.
he will completely do it when he wants to and has the self-confidence to do it

best of luck
