I agree with Marilu, rinsing out the nose and so on is really the trick - of course the baby screaming while you are trying to get the stuff out the nose is not great, but soldier on.

In terms of Demazin, I am the Demazin-Queen. I used to go through this stuff like Oros in our house as I had a serious ENT child with excess mucus and and and ....

Anyway, after using my requisite 5 litres a month, and telling my doctor, she was quite clear that Demazin is fine for short spells, and should not be something you pop in to your grocery trolley like I was doing.

She recommended another "dry up the nose over the counter medicine" which does not have the possible negative side effects that Demazin has ..... unfortunately the name just fell out of my head.

Demazin is great for runny noses, but I will think of the other one she recommended.

I once went to our pharmacy asking for the best meds for a runny nose and she said its Allergex. I tried it and it works. So maybe you should give it a try.

Shame Tienka, sorry to hear that you son ended up in hospital! Mignione just finished her last course of antibiotics 2weeks ago so I'm hoping that this cold will go away on its own :(

Klk, glad to hear that your baba slept through again last night!! Hope you get the runny nose stopped soon!

Oh ok, I just get a bit worried when my son has green snotties because he got a bacterial infection 2x in one month and that led to the hospitalization. If you just leave the bacterial infection it can spread to the brain and cause major problems.

Tienka, her snollas goes green every time she gets a cold which is twice a month, so I've told the doc NO antibiotics! I am taking her to the doc on Friday though (to check her ears) so will let him check out the nose as well.

Ag sorry dear, I'll translate  According to our ENT, the Demezin does not dry up the mucus, it only thickens it so it stops running. I used Demezin until the day my son got an sinus infection and had to be booked into hospital for a sinus flush because the thick mucus blocked his sinus ducts. I stopped using the Demezin and also advise my friends not to use it. I now only use Octrivin Pead and the Sterimar for a runny nose.

Marilu, if the mucus is green please take your LO to the doctor for antibiotics, as the green indicates an infection.
