Oh my word...my mom popped out 4 babies from size 3.2kg to 4.5kg..not any problems and no tearing or anything..and she was tiny!
This "baby is too big" thing is non sense. 3.6kg is a great size. I think doctors should stop making woman fear something that are perfectly capable of doing. the only reason someone with a larger baby may have issues..is because they were caused to feel fear for it..and it's the fear that affects the birth badly, not the baby. I mean..I am scared too..but deep down I feel confident that baby will come when he is ready, no matter how big he gets or what my due date is. This is a natural process.

I have heard a good reflexologist can help induce naturally. Power of the mind as well..focus on believing it will happen right when it's meant to. Remember..baby is the one who releases the hormones that initiate labour...so try not to let them induce medically and try to stay as positive about your and baby's ability to do this..no matter what. We are made for this. Stay strong...stay relaxed..and don't let any doctor bully you. trust yourself! x

I was at my midwife yesterday. I'm now overdue, and this is what she told me:

Dont sit reclined in an armchair as it lifts the baby outof the pelvis. Sit on a gym ball (bounce a little) squat occasionally through the day.

Sex.

Take Evening Primrose Oil orally (I've been doing this from week 37 anyway) as well as vaginally (1 capsule pricked at both ends at nights before bed)

Try relax - if stresses take some rescue to keep adrenalin levels low (this interfears with oxytocin release)

She also recommended caulophyllum which I wouldnt take unless you get it recommended by your doc/midwife/homeopath.

I'm also frustrated:)

Hello :)
I am a midwife and completely agree with Nef.
nipple stimulation and sex.
Squatting and walking.
And patience.
Unfortunately these are things that COULD help but you cannot always force little one to come :)
But definitely worth the try!!

And Julz is right. I must say that the smallest baby I have delivered was 1kg and the biggest was 4.3kg. The bigger the baby, the easier the delivery. I dont know why...but the mom's often don't tear or need an episiotomy whereas some mom's with a 2.8kg baby require an episiotomy.

Yes this also depends on your muscles, perineum etc, but just sharing my statistics and experiences :)
