Hi everyone... sorry to butt in... i'm new, have to start somewhere i guess lol..

Anyways, Tiaan (2y4m) has a black bike, he's actually on his second one already! Just an idea though, for Christmas, just before his 2nd birthday, we bought him a bicycle... it only took him about 3 months to learn to ride it on his own (with training wheels..!!) He is tall for his age though, so not sure if it would be normally be suitable for 2 year olds... just an idea ;)

Proud mommy of a gorgeous toddler!

I bought Megan 3 little bikes / ride-on's and she wouldn't / couldn't ride them (one from Game a pink one and the wheels came off not long afterwards, one in the shape of a horse from Fisher Price and another sturdy colourful one from Fisher Price). The 2 from FP are still here, but just standing. My MIL bought her the little black skop fietsie for Christmas last year and she LOOOOOOOOOOVES it! We've got a nice long passage so I don't even mind her riding it in the house, but it does get a bit hectic sometimes, especially when you get home from work with a headache.

Oh, now that I see the pic of the Y-bike, I realise that we had one of each (I thought it was one of those bicycles without pedals  )

Hate to tell you that they are just as noisy as the little black bikes.
Brandon really struggled with it in the beginning, but I think that might have been cos he was a bit short. Once he got the hang of it, he loved it.
But it is really not as strong as the black bike (at least not in our household), we had to throw it away after about a year, cos the back axel broke. The black bike took just as much abuse and is still around almost 3 years later.

You think just the wheels are noisy - my LO decided his had to come in the pool with him once, so now it SQUEAKS on top of the normal noise! We took him to Botanic Gardens last weekend and spoilt the peace for quite a few people I think!

I am keen to try the y-bike so I can send the skopfietsie to Grandma's house ;)

lol RM. I am sure every kid needs one and I actually don't mind the noise but his dad is a cyclist and wants him to have the y bike rather. okay yes I suits me down to the ground. I worry about all of our geriatric neighbours.

I don't think a South African home would be complete without the rata-ta-ta-ta-ta sound of the black bike on the paving or tar of your drive way as you are trying to have a quiet Saturday afternoon lie down!!

I think they should think about getting one of those into the SA Coat of Arms design ....
