Hi tcofran,

I don't know a speech therapist, but I would suggest that you post another thread in the toddler section, asking for a recommendation for a speech thereapist. I worry that perhaps if your question is under "toddler sleep and milk" few people who might be able to assist you will notice your question.

I am glad to hear your wife is clean now. I can't even imagine what a difficult time it must have been for your family.

I would recommend Dr. Hannelie Scheffer, she is pta east area, her no: 012 997 1079. She only works with children 3 years onwards, but like in our case if your child is under 3 she instructs the parent as how to do "therapy" with the child and how to handle the situation. I am really grateful that I got professional help as how to deal with my LG's health problem, since it could have really scarred her life if we didn't approach it right.

Sorry if I am asking questions where I shouldn't. I don't know if I am wrong, but from your last post it seems as if your wife has cancer? I am so sorry to hear if this is the case. I don't know if the lack of talking could be related to the difficult time your family has been through, maybe it is not related at all. Have you seen a child psychologist as to how to handle the situation with your wife's chemo. Having been through difficult health issues too in our family I am aware of the effects of types of stressful situations on your children and know the value of getting professional advice on handling this.

yip, breast cancer, but she is clean now. There was an article somewhere on children having trouble talking after trauma..... will try abd get it.... maybe i should just make an appoijntment, and have stress / hearing looked at. but where to find the time :(

He does communicate verbally. he started saying mamma etc about a year back. then we had to take him out of the creche, due to his mom's chemo (dr's idea) and ever since then he has not really talked. any suggestions to have his hearing tested ? based in PTA
