Jaydee from my research I am 99% confident to say the test line must be as dark as or darker than the control line to be positive. There is a really useful website if you are using OPK's and charting your cycle, I will try remeber the name and post it asap.

PS I would highly recommend charting your temps as well if you are trying to time BD that helps you interpret the OPK's alot more accurately.

Jaydee, I am no expert at this myself. At first I also thought a faint second line meant positive. If that is true, I sometimes get 'n faint second line on day 8/9 which is doubtful in my mind that I was ovulating then. I must say, I do find these ovulution kits a bit confusing at times. I guess if you have very irregular cycles things can get even trickier!

I have never tested while having my period, but like I have said on day 8 or 9 and was really surprised to get a faint line then!! I wasn't sure what to make of it.

I think the brands may differ as well. I think I once had a brand that said even a faint second line is a sign a small LH surge. I am not sure, but it is best to follow the interpretations of the specific brand.

So you can have a second line throughout the month (even while having your period?) as there will be LH in your urine at any point in your cycle?

I also use the dischem brand. What Dinky explained is my experience as well. If you start testing a day or two ahead of what you think ovulation date might be, you will find that the one line will be lighter than the darker line (test line). As you get closer to ovulation the two lines will be equally dark. Then you know you have a positive test. If you continue to test the next two days you will find that the one line will become lighter again compared to the test line.

I also used the Dischem OPK's when we conceived Emily.

An OPK is positive only when the two lines are as dark as each other. If you have ovulated the second line will start to fade.

We followed an adapatation of the SMEP and I fell pg the first month of doing that
