Advice on how/where to feed my baby at the shops?

I breast feed and have fed in various ways. I have even fed whilst walking around. Stores like Toys r us have baby rooms you can use as well. I also ask to use fitting rooms in stores which work great. Some malls have family loos that are also helpful.

For baby facilities in Pretoria:

Menlyn Park has a baby club. You get a special parking ticket that allows you to park in an area (under roof) with big parking bays so you have lots of space for loading baby etc.

You can also pre pay your parking so you don't have to worry about paying at the paystations with a crying baby.

There is also a baby room where you can breastfeed and change baby.

My sister was a part of the club and really enjoyed it.

I tend to look for restaurants that have booths i.e Mugg and Bean so I can sit there - but I was breastfeeding.

But the booths are also nice as you get some privacy with baby no matter how you are feeding, and have space to spread your stuff out if need be. Benefit is that if baby conks out, then you can just order some lunch and get some moments to yourself.

Canal Walk has a really nice feeding room as well, if you prefer a bit of privacy.

You can bottle feed anywhere so no worries. breastfeeding is a whole other mission. I always went to Cafe Chameleon and they would give me their conference room and. Its actually amazing how helpful people can be when it comes to feeding your lo.

Ok, so basically I should stop being nervous about it and just feed my baby, he he - wherever, whenever right?? Ha ha - thanks ladies - clearly I'm still very much a nervous first time mommy

Hi Des. Yip with bottle feeding it's quite easy. You just find a nice quiet spot and you feed. I've fed in the shop between the clothing rails etc. etc. When you breastfeed - now that's a problem! We once went to a nice child friendly restaurant with a BIG play area etc. and the food was really nice, but when it was time for Megan to feed I had to go sit in the ladies toilet (there's only 2 toilets) which is situated next to the kitchen outlet. I thought I was gonna die of heat in there! And to top it all, there was no where to even change her nappy!

Otherwise, yes, just go sit by Wimpy, order a coffee and feed your baby.
