I pay my domestic R1700 (mon - friday) she works 4 days at my house and 1 day at the neighbour. She's a stay in domestic, so i provided her with free accommodation and bought her a radio for her room and she gets 3 meals a day. Im a housewife, so basically all she does is cleaning, i see to the kids, my kitty and cooking of the food

KortneyK - always a touchy subject regarding what we pay when someone assists us.

Obviously the three issues are (1) Quality/Experience of the person you have employed (2) What thier duties are - how long they work (3) What you can afford.

Unfortunately I think we are all juggling those balls.

I pay the lady who works for me R2 400.00 basic and then up and above that I pay her if she babysits and so on - so I pay her between R2 600.00 - R2 800.00 per month.

We chat about the leave she is taking at the beginning of the year and then try and plan ahead as to what she needs to take, and then it allows me to plan a replacement or what ever.

There are odd days during the year where she may need to do something and then take a day here and a day there - to be honest I never take those days off her leave, as I realise she puts in a lot of time for me, is hugely reliable, and we sort of balance it out (I hope.) Leave is calculated at 1.25 days per month worked.

I have three kids - the two older ones are at school all day, and the youngest (18 months) stays at home. So she manages the house and looks after Isabelle.

If I need her to help me on a weekend or to work over time, I ask her and if she is available, then I pay her accordingly.

She has been looking after Isabelle since she was 4 months old, and really does a great job.

I would be totally lost without my maid/nanny - and I hope as money becomes less tight for me, I can improve her salary.

TOILETRIES LADIES WHY ??????

Anyway, i pay mine R1200, she does the cleaning, washing and looks after my 9 months baby, but this year my 6 yr old is joining us, so i'll up her salary by 200.

I do the cooking.

She goes home twice a year for two weeks.

Hi Kimber,

How old are your kids? I was paying my previous Nanny R1400 and also buying her toiletries, she was live inn so I provided accomodation and food for her aswell.

Her responsibility includes looking after the kids during the day and cleaning the house and washing the clothes (for babies only).

What time does she wake up in the morning? and weekends? what does she do?
