Hey ShelleyK, welcome!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I'm sure we all have that fear especially with a first baby as no one really knows what to expect and no one can really explain to you how life is going to change because babies are so different and how we handle certain situations is also different. (I mean for me an hour of crying would be as much as I can handle where for the next person 10minutes is enough to go insane)

About the fear of complications, I think that is something we all cope with. For me, I told my husband while we were driving to the hospital "If it's a choice between my life and our daughters life then choose her" and I wrote him a letter for in case I don't make it home, telling him that he will be alright and so on. For me, yes it was a fear, but it was so out of my hands that I, in the end, didn't even worry about it anymore. I just controlled what I could (the letter and telling hubby) and let the rest work itself out (if that makes any sense)

Good luck, I am sure that there is a sep/oct thread you can join in the pregnancy and birth section and if you have any other questions feel free to post, amongst us I'm sure we'll be able to help you

hi everyone

I am new here, currently 11 weeks pregnant with my 1st baby, due in October and absolutely terrified!

I live in Durban South Africa and I am probably going to go to McCords hospital - anyone been there?

Any moms out there due around September / October and anyone who is on or was on antidepressants for depression or anxiety attacks during pregnancy please contact me!

I have panic attacks so I have to be on antidepressants. Being my first baby I have no idea what to expect and feel completely out of control so the anxiety is through the roof! I am terrified of dying during or after the birth from complications! Anyone who has had this worry??

I cant be the only one!
