Thanks for the idea Jems. I will definately try that in the following weeks.

I really try just to give him bottle before bed. But sometimes during the day he wants another one. Especially when he is sleepy or exhausted. And he is cries when I tell him it isalmost time to give up the bottle. That really upset cry...(like how can you take away my bottle!!! cry)

He is also very concerned that the baby in my tummy will be getting his bottles. Don't know where he got that from.

Update: Jade woke this morning and all she wanted was her dummy! Told me I must get Tinkerbelle to bring it back or buy her new ones! No flies on her...

I just remained calm and said no more dummies.... She carried on and on and on so she had a little time out in her bedroom. All this while trying to get ready for work, get her dressed for school and give her some breakfast. Thank goodness Troy can entertain himself for a while...

Jems, what inspiration, yes! My LO is also besotted with her dummy, although we have managed to confine it to her bedroom only. Phew, what a struggle!

Carolsch, I am not sure at what age they should wean off the night bottle before bedtime. I asume you are not talking about a bottle in the middle of the night?
I can't see why she has to give up the nightbottle yet? Surely around 5 they will drop it naturally? Maybe moms with older kids can advise, since I am also curious about this.

Is it only at night time before bed that she drinks from a bottle or during the day as well?

Jems, you just gave me hope for N and her dummy. So I'm going to relax about it. :-)

On Saturday my Jade gave up her dummy - she will be 4 in December.

It was definitely time. No self weaning was in sight!

Today is day 3 and she is fine and has only asked for it about 5 times.

What we did was a week prior, reminded in constantly that on Saturday she was giving up her dummy, she didn't like it but I told her at least 3 times a day what was happening.

The night before I told her to suck the living daylights out of her dummy as the next day was the end of it.

Saturday morning woke up and I rounded up all her dummies popped them in a nice little bag and told her that Tinkerbelle was coming to fetch them.

We went out and while we gone DH bought and hung pressies in the tree and left a little note and everything - very nicely done I must say I was quite impressed.

She was fine.

Bed time came and she said that I must phone Tinkerbelle and tell her to bring back her dumdum from Pixie Hollow. Told her we can't that they have been passed on. She dealt with it....

I have been treading lightly with her and she is coping better that expected. I am very proud of her as she constantly had a blady dummy in her mouth.

Good Luck. Never easy taking away their comfort but make a BIG thing of it an they will get caught up in the fantasy of it all....

I really do not know what to do anymore.

First DH did not want me to hide the bottle, because that would mean our baby is growing up.

Now he is 3 years and 5 months and still wants bottle before bed and I have to sit or lie next to him so that he can rub my hand ......SIGH

ANY ideas?? What did you do? Otherwise I will soon have to get the bottle monster or bottle snatcher get rid of the bottle.
