I remember there has been threads about autism, but I don't think there are a lot of moms on this form with children with disabilities.

I am sure you will find a lot of support for general health issues, but for really specific questions about autism I would recomend rather searching for an international support group for this.

And welcome to this very south african forum.

There aren't too many support groups on here for kids with disabilities, but there are a few kids and parents around.

My toddler (20months) has congenital heart defects, and through the external networking I am in touch with some support groups for mom's who have a rough time.
Please take a look at www.facebook.com/MommiesofMiracles its a group for mom's who deal with a lot bigger challenges and offer a wealth of support.

I can only imagine how hard it must be for you to be alone up there far from your family. I certainly hope you have support.

Hi, I am a mom living in the UK with my husband and 4 year old child. I am from Cape Town originally.

Is there a board for moms with kids with special needs on here? I have looked around by not seen any. My child is busy being assessed for asperger syndrome (autism) and tomorrow he is having his first assessment and I am quite nervous about it. He also has speech problems, severe eczema and is under a developmental paediatrician and dietician because he is too small for his size and has allergies. Thank goodness for the NHS or we would be broke, lol.
