Hello fellow Moomie readers!
For me, becoming a mum at 42 was the start of what real life is really about! I had had an international career, travelled to dream places, interacted with all sorts of people (from aristocrats to beggars) and lived a fun filled life with my dream partner. While on a camping trip, a trial run for an adventure overland road trip to Uganda to see the gorillas, I felt dizzy. Yes, on the 11th on November 2011 my wonderful lady GP told me that I was expecting! AND I thought I was at the start of menopause......
As I think back and am grateful for all the ''coincidences'' that occurred soon after finding out that I was going to become a mum! Wonderful women who gave professional advice & pointed me in the right direction manifested into my life. With additional research and a supportive partner, I was able to combine both the advice and my research. The outcome was a good healthy pregnancy, a great birth and I settled into motherhood like a pro. My beautiful little boy was born naturally, quickly, safely and in an environment where we were all calm and happy. An active birth unit was my first choice for my delivery venue! 18 months later, I see what a huge learning curve motherhood is. Throughout the whole time there were small challenges thrown our way. Each challenge was addressed with copious amounts of research. I bought books and wrote lists of questions for my amazing private midwife. I still study everyday but my little man (18 months going on 21) is by biggest teacher.
I don't need to see gorillas anymore...my life adventure has started in my own home!
