Hi Natsvan

Welcome to Moomie and sorry to hear about your experience with your first baby. It's shocking that you were left in the recovery room after surgery!!!!!

My daughter was born at Clinton Hospital in Alberton in 2010 (I'm with Dr Wium). I also had a Ceasar and after they did she was born they did the normal tests etc and then they wrapped her and brought her first to DH and then to me. I wasn't even in recovery long when they came to put her on my chest (skin on skin) and we were wheeled back to the room where they only fetched her at lunch time to bath. Some Netcare hospitals are very pro skin to skin.

Our second baby is due in April and I hope for the same experience with her as I had with my first baby.

All the best and I hope you have a much better experience this time around!!

Lots of sticky baby dust to you!!!!!

Hi Mommies

I'm new here so hope I get this right! I have a big beautiful boy who is now 22 months and hubby and I are starting to think about having another baby.
I had a caesarean the last time and was so disappointed with the care I received from the doc and the hospital. The maternity ward left me in the theatre recovery area for nearly 3 hours because they forgot about me, I only got a very bleary 3 sec look at my little boy and that was the last I saw of him until I was finally rescued from recovery! No skintoskin or starting to breastfeed asap, it was a case of getting us out of theatre so they could get the next lady in!I luckily recovered very quickly and breastfeeding went well but when it came to me needing my 6 week checkup I was told my appoinment wasnt there anymore and the doc was too busy to fit me in. I ended up driving to Jhb and going to a new gynae just to check everything was healed properly.
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a gynae in Jhb who still allows a c-section mom to do skin on skin contact and breastfeed quickly? I work at a game lodge in Limpopo so planning ahead is needed! I have heard about a few hospitals in Jhb with good facilities but am not sure where to start? And suggestions?
