Thank you everyone for the advice and information. My wonderful husband called my doctor and he said I should not worry. I have an appointment for as soon as I get back... So I will be 12 weeks... We are so excited.

I have spoken to a midwife here and all my symptoms are very normal. She said I must try not to stress about ectopic pregnancy... And that the pain will get a lot worse if it is ectopic. So I have located the hospital and have all my medical info for just in case... But I am feeling a lot better about it all.

It is scary and lonely being in a foreign country right now... but I am so excited to get home and see my little sproglet for the first time. I hope all of you are doing well! :)

Hi, Congrats!

I went for a scan when I must have been about 5 weeks thinking I was further along. The doctor told me I wasn't pregnant which upset me but clearly he was wrong coz I'm almost 23 weeks pregnant! Try relax, must be so hard being away from home.

Hi Starryeyed, and congrats!! Wonderful news!

Karmie is right, one never stops worrying. My favourite worry was toxoplasmosis (of all things) since we have a cat  But I worried about everything else as well. I found it helped to try and just focus on one thing at a time, one day at a time.

To answer the question about weeks, I think it should be about 8 weeks for them to be able to see clearly on an ultrasound. We found out very early too (about 4 weeks, I was barely late yet) and the earliest the gynae would schedule me for ultrasound was at 8 weeks. Before that, I think they can do blood tests, but as far as I know you need an ultrasound to rule out ectopic pregnancy.

All of the best and keep us updated!

Congratulations!

It is normal to worry about everything, and it never stops  Welcome to pregnancy and soon-to-be-motherhood!

I am by no means an authority or knowledgeable on ectopic pregnancy, but if I remember correctly from what my OBGYN told me, ectopic pregnancies are in most cases picked up within the first 10 weeks.

I know in SA that Gyneas typically only want to see you from 7/8 weeks onwards. However, if you can find a Gynea where you are, I recommend you go see one, especially if you are concerned and have experienced pain.

I am sure you are fine though and it is all just typical pregnancy nervousness

Hi StarryEyed,

Welcome to our forum, and a huge congrats on your bundle-on-the-way! Hope you have many chats with all of us, and that we keep you company while you are away from home.

Search the forum and see if there is a thread for other moms who will deliver in the same month as you, you'll have lots to talk about. If there isn't a thread, start one and someone should be joining you shortly!

Hi Everyone.
I am new to Moomie. When we were ttc, some of the searches I did came up with some really helpful advice and first hand experiences. So thank you to all of you.

I am from Port Elizabeth. I am still in a state of shock and cannot believe how lucky I am. We were only ttc for 3 months and on the 3rd month... It happened for us. I am only 5 weeks and 2 days and I wake up every morning expecting my period. I am terrified of something going wrong. Anyone else feel that way?

I am currently in Europe for 2 months for work... I do not have my doctor or hubby for support. I am so nervous about an ectopic pregnancy since it happens a lot to the women in my family.

I am going to try find a doctor here to check me out but I am not sure how many weeks I should be before I go. Any advice would be appreciated.
