Hi Hasie

I have to add that at Femina we were allowed to let the cord finished pulsing... we requested it with both my girls...

And at the end of gruelling 22 hour labour without any pain meds it was a relief to actually lay down for the push... and the bed was moved quite upright for the actually pushing...

It really depends on what kind of birth you would like to have. If you are opting for a natural birth, then get a midwife (visit www.midwives-exclusive.co.za) and use one of their gynies as back up.

Femina clinic is the most pro-natural hospital in Pretoria, but even then, when you give birth, you will be on a bed, on your back and baby's chord will be cut very quickly after birth, unless you use the active birth unit and have a midwife as primary care giver.

I'm with Dr Swart at Femina. Highly recommended. He knows what he is doing.
He just delivered my twins at 33 weeks and I felt safe and secure through the whole ordeal!

Hi there,

I'm with Dr. Sevenster @ Unitas. He takes a bit getting used to in terms of bedside manner but he is fantastic and for me, the most important was that through my major complications during birth he never seemed out of his depth.

Hi there

I cant recommend anyone in Centurion... But Femina Clinic - a 25minute drive from Centurion - has an awesome birthing unit...

The gynaes there are also pro-natural... My gynae is Doctor Reyn Marais and he has a wonderful bedside manner... he listens to all your concerns and really places one at ease throughout it all. He also kept my husband involved throughout it all!

I live in Centurion and would choose Femina any day over any other hospital. I had Both my daugthers there and had a wonderful natural birth, drug-free! The sisters are like midwives... also very pro-natural approach!

All the best with your search.

I can recommend Dr Roodt and Dr Markram at Unitas.

Dr Roodt delivered my first 2kids and he is a gem.
Dr Markram also deals with infertility and I moved to him when I became older.

Both of them are awesome

DH: 50 all well

Can anyone advise me who is a good gynaecologist in the Pretoria/Centurion area. I live very close to Unitas hospital so that would be really convenient. But I really want to go to a good gynae even if its a bit further from me.
