That is great news, congratulations! Trust that all will go well. :)

Symptoms: Mainly bloated & boob sensitivity. Now and then a bit of nausea & dizziness. But it is still early....

I heard they say the first 12 weeks are the most dangerous, so I am waiting till after they can see the heartbeat before breaking the news to friends and family.

I made an appointment with Dr. R. Gangaram in October so will see how it goes from there. I think it is really important to find a good obstetrician, one that you feel comfortable with and does not treat you as another number. Good luck to you too!

"Any Advice"- stay calm :)

I just found out we might be pregnant!! yay! its a bit more complicated as I had a miscarriage about 2 months ago. so am waiting for the blood tests before we have some idea of how far along I am.

Hows the symptoms? First time around, i had some cramps and lower back pain. This time I have some nausea and boobs sensitivity.

All the best with finding the right dr for you. I am changing my gynea-I am so unhappy with her. Hope i find a good one

Hi Maj,

Thank you!

That's great - how was your first pregnancy? Any advise?

My last day was the 18th of August. So I guess it's about 4/5 weeks. Thanks, Dr. Bassa seems to be a good option. I am looking at Dr. R. Gangaram as well, as he is a bit closer for me.

Enjoy your day.

Hi Newbee.

Congratulations!

Im trying for my second baby and still dont no. how the no. of weeks are calculated!
When was the last day of your last period? Calculate the no. of weeks until today. That generally gives you a good idea as to when to book your gynea app. I think most gynea's will only do the first app after 8 weeks, unless you are high risk. Once the dr does the scan, from the general size of the fetus they get a better idea of how far along you are.

In terms of the gynea: I live in CT, but I am from PMB/DBN.
I have 3 cousins who went to Dr Bassa. I haven't been to him personally though... hopefully you can some recommendations from other mums.

Hi Everyone!

I just got news that I am pregnant. This is my first child, so everything still rather confusing.

I trying to understand how many weeks pregnant I am? I ovulated on the 24th of August 2015 and according to the internet I'm 5 weeks, which does not make sense at all...... I understand the doctors calculate it form your LMP, but that is not a true reflection, so can't understand why they would use that date? And that makes it difficult to understand when one is suppose to go for your first scan?

Discovery only covers certain obstetricians in full, so I really don't know who to go to? I live in Waterfall KZN and I am currently looking in Hillcrest, Pinetown and Westville.

Can anyone recommend a good obstetrician in this area?

These are a few I heard about:

Dr. Clifford Maise (Pinetown)
Dr. R. Gangaram (Hillcrest)
Dr. Bassa (Pinetown)
Dr. N. Mahomed (Pinetown)
Dr. RD Martin (Westville)
Dr. Dhaver (Pinetown)

Thanks :silly:
