Thanks Tumi

Will pass on the info to her, I also know pregnancy hormones grow the fibroids more, I also told her to get another doc opinion, before considering going under the knife.

Unfortunately fibroids are more common in women of child bearing age. You cant really reduce them. If they are too big then it usually becomes more difficult to conceive and if u do conceive then they can also grow with baby. Im lucky coz I hv only one small fibroid and it grows slowly. My gynae also put me on uterogestan in the first 12 weeks. It minises the chances of a miscarriage greatly. If in doubt go for a second opinion, if 2 doctors say the same thing then it would probably be best to remove them then u dont have to stress about them with ur next pregnancy...good luck

Is there no way to reduce the fibroids before falling pregnant? If later the fibroids do grow how do they remove or reduce it? Or has your gynae not talked about that so far?

I also have a fibroid, but mine is only 3.5cm and grows slowly, I get pains now and again but there is no risk at present to baby and my ob says I should deliver with no complications. im now 17w4d along and the pains are not that bad. I guess if the fibroids are too many then they do need to be removed as they grow with baby due to the increased blood supply to them.

Hi Ladies

I have a friend who miscarried her baby in the first trimester and was adviced is was due to fibroids, apparently a lot of them, now that she wishes to try falling pregnant again the gynae says it can complicate the pregnancy and some women have normal pregnancy and deliver fine. I don't know much about the topic (fibroids) so I hope there are some of you here who are pregnant, of who have had trouble carrying your baby due to fibroids and I hope there are more of you who can share your success stories and how your fibroids were treated so I can give my friend some more hope as this gynae seems to be encouraging her to go under the knife before trying again which is not always the best option.
