file Babies who refuse the Bottle

Hi Mama1,

It was the same with my daughter. Latched immediately after birth and refused the dummy and the bottle. I had every bottle imaginable with formula and expressed milk and she just refused. I had to return to work when she was 4 months old and she would wait until I got home to breastfeed. Luckily I work close to home so I could feed her in my lunch hour aswell.

She is now almost 2 years old - never took a bottle. She now drinks from a sippy cup but she doesn't even finish 1 sippy cup in a day. She still breastfeeds in the morning and in the evenings. Despite not taking in much fluids she is a very happy and healthy little girl.

Everything will work out in the end. As long as your child is happy and healthy you shouldnt be too concerned. Goodluck mommy :)

Hi Mama!

Check out this thread: www.moomie.co.za/52-comments-and-questio...ng-the-bottel#259430

Basically, I suggest you have hubby or another caretaker give the bottle and you leave the house, even if it is just to take a walk around the block. My eldest only took a bottle from me until I completely stopped breastfeeding. She did however from the first try took a bottle from hubby and her daymother, provided I was not around. Seems they can "sniff you out".

Good luck!

Hi Ladies

I'm new to this forum, and I am hoping that someone, somehow, will be able to share some advice so I can solve my current difficulty with baby.
My daughter is now 8mnths and latched to the breast immediately after birth. I never really had any difficulty breastfeeding and it has been an amazing and enjoyable experience for baby and I.
I want to stop breastfeeding now, and will need to start working part-time, so will also need to, as do not want to express. I am quite happy to continue breastfeeding early morning, and then again at bedtime, but would like baby to have her milk feeds (formula) from a bottle during the day.
Only big problem is she refuses to take a bottle, and gags everytime I try give her formula. I have every kind of bottle. A NUK bottle seems the most 'almost' preferable..although some days she pushes it away with severe disapproval. I have also tried a lot of formula, Novalac, Holle, Hip. I have also tried putting breastmilk in a bottle. All she does is bite the teet, and moan. She has never taken a dummy, since birth has not been interested. She drinks water from a sippy cup slowly, but it doesn't seem to work with milk. She figures out it's not water, and well there goes that idea.
Help! Does anyone have some advice or tips for me please?
