Hi Stella

thanks for your reply. I finally got a good speech therapist and have also started taking my son to an occupational therapist, it all seems to make a huge difference! From about a month ago he all of a sudden just started using words out of his own and started copying our words/sounds. He didn't even have a vocabulary of 10 words up until recently and now is speaking a total of 35 words in just over a month.

We also do therapy with him every evening (the tasks the therapists are giving us and some other exercises I found on the web) He is enjoying it and so are we lol... We are very happy that things are finally looking up.

If there are mothers out there that have the same concern and are looking for good speech exercises, tips and tools they can do with their children they can find it here: teachmetotalk.com

cheers

hi there,

welcome to moomie, this is such a nice platform.

i close friend of mine had this situation. her 1st son only started saying words after 3 and now at 4 and a half is still not speaking properly, but he is really getting there and now we can understand a conversation with him. i think in another year he will probably speak really well. she din't take him to any therapy.
her 2nd baby is now 2 and a half and looks like he will be the exact same as big brother. i have only heard him say mamma and pappa.

me 35, DH 39

Hi there
I am new to the moomie site and thought I'll give it a go! B)
My son is almost 2.5y and is a late talker. We have been speech therapy, got his tonsils removed, had grommets put in, have been for hearing tests and he is now full day in pre-school.

He is on par with all the other milestones, understands well when being talked to, follows instructions, and his non-verbal communication is good (pointing, facial expressions & babbling/attempting a word). In general he is a very happy child, clever and always busy.
Is or have anyone here also been in a similar situation and how did it turn out?
