Hi Kandassie,

Your story moved me! I will keep your family in my prayers, sometimes a little faith is the treatment that works best :)
Take care and good luck!

Hi!
Just wanted to give a quick intro into my TTC story!

We started TTC (trying to conceive) in August 2016 - all bright eyed and bushy tailed, thinking of course that every cycle was THE cycle. I did everything, from BBT (basal body temperature) to Ovulation Kits to drinking every supplement under the sun spending a sickening amount of money, nevermind the cash I wasted on HCG tests lol. I'm glad I can look back on all of this and still smile at how naive I was. In all this time I have never had a bfp, not even close.

In 2018 we started all the testing. Blood works were done, scans, SA's (which we found that DH (dear husband) was diagnosed with  Varicocele - he had an operation and his sperm count is within the normal range, not wow but good enough for IUI) - all my tests came back fine, no problems. It's been a year and still, no bfp.

So, in the beginning of May 2019 we were referred to a Fertility Specialist. What a lovely gentleman and what an incredible team he has. I am greatly impressed, anyway. He did all of his own tests, which were a repeat of everything we have done - I don't mind, whatever will help us have our rainbow. Tests came back great. So he ordered me a HSG. I had this procedure done Yesterday and I nearly died.

My daý started off in utter confusion. We had to get up at 4am to travel 2 hours to the doctors offices. I had to report to the Day Clinic at 6am. I was late, because I ended up waiting at the wrong office on the wrong floor. So, finally managed to check in and the procedure commenced at just past 8 the morning. It's bloody horrible sitting in that chair with your entire back-end exposed, I felt like I was in a low budget version of Naked and Afraid. The nurses were really nice though. So, he comes in and explains that it will feel "uncomfortable" (I scoff at this remark), almost like a period cramp he says. Granted, many women have this procedure done without so much as a peep from them. I WAS CRYING MY EYES OUT by the end of it.
He clamps my vagina, and as he inserts that tube injection thing into my cervix I was pretty sure that this was how it all will end for me. Then he starts to spurt the dye ...with everytime he does that it feels like my uterus was about to explode. All of them were looking at me like they can't believe what my reaction was. I felt sooooo embarrassed by the end of it. Anyway, so my uterus is a drama queen... I still cringe...

So the tests came back good, uterus is an alright size - he is just concerned that the top part is a bit indented, but we'll see, he said. No blockages - so it's confirmed, unexplained infertility. Well, I guess, looking on the  bright side, having no answers as to why, is in itself, an answer.

We're starting my first IUI (intrauterine insemination) cycle on 9 August (that's if I have a 31 day cycle, my cycles range between 30 to 35 days) - starting Letrozole on Day 3 - Day 7 and Gonal F injections for Day 3, 5, 7 and 9. Then I have my first scan on Day 10 and pending on the outcome I might have another on Day 12 where after I will do the trigger shot (Ovitrelle), then DH (dear husband) will give his sample and AI will happen tentatively on Day 13 which is the 22nd of August. The doc says to have sex twice after and then I'll be in my 2ww. I'll probably have a blood test done to confirm pregnancy if AF (Aunt Flo - menstruation/period) doesn't show before the 13th of September.

I am not going to do a home pregnancy test - I have done more than enough of those to last me a life time and besides, I really don't need another BFN. Not now.

I am looking forward to sharing this journey, as it can be a bit lonely especially when it comes to infertility.

Thanks!
