Sitting Up

you don't need anything fancy! let baby try sitting up on the floor and just have cushions around for the inevitable topple over. have fun!!!

Huggles, thank you so very much. i was so concerned that i wasnt helping him out much but the simple methods seemed to have worked great for your little one.

When my little girl was 5 months old she also showed signs of wanting to sit.

We got her the bumbo (it is safe as long as baby is not alone and you put it on a floor and strap them in), but she did not enjoy it at the time. It was only at 6 months when her skills improved when she sat in it. But then it was only for a few weeks, thereafter she wanted to sit unconstrained on the mat on the floor to reach for her toys. So not really sure if it is worth it

So I agree with Huggles, no fancy chairs needed, a few pillows, a box, or sitting with you as support works great!

He will sit when he's ready, without any special fancy chairs.

My son only started sitting unaided at 7 months. Before that i used to sit on the floor with my legs open wide and him between them, back to me. That allowed him to practice sitting whilst having somewhere "safe" and soft to lean on and move between.

Another thing we did which worked very well was to get an old cardboard box and sit him in that. It allows space between him and the sides, but doesn't let him fall over too much so helps him practice using the muscles.

Question, my LB is 5 months and is showing signs of wanting to sit up, his neck gets more and more steady by the day.

Is there a specific chair i shud get him to assist him?

I looked at the Bumbo but terribly afraid as i read the 'call back' articles.
