Hi Mrs Smith,

Yes the one at the top of the forum, not the menu, link to Community Builder.



If you click on this one the look at the screenshot below to find how to get to messages, however this is an inbuilt quickview from community builder that is fairly useless. Better option is either the main menu or the snip above the logout button.

Just check though, if your messaging is enabled now you should get the popup. Mine is now happily irrirating me in chrome after the change.

Thanks Matt. I am using chrome so maybe that is the problem.
I have now activated the pop-up option as suggested.

Just to confirm - it's the pink private message writing at the top of the forum itself, not the private message drop down option on the very main menu bar at the top of the page. I tried it now again and it just takes me to my own profile with no option for private messaging anywhere, other than the main drop down menu at the very top of the page.

Hopefully the pop ups will help.

popup solved: not chrome, I use different accounts to test between IE and Chrome. You can set the message system NOT to use popups if they irritate you.

Click here on the left column



Then settings here in the message system



Then tick "show a popup" and save

The private messages link at the top of the forum links to the community builder component. On that there should be a tab for messages. Unfortunately no way to link directly.

Next up there is the link on the left. I did some testing and unread message counts showed for me. I did some database maintenance in case it was something affecting old messages. Still seems to be behaving at the moment.

As to the popups I have attempted to update the entire message system to see if it fixes it. I did not have any luck until I tested in a different browser. For some reason IE is working perfectly but Chrome is not. Google has become a bit full of nonsense lately adding restrictions to Chrome so could be something they have broken. Will do a little digging.

Just wanted to let admin know that the private message function seems to have some bugs.

To start with, when clicking on the pink "private messages" words in the heading on the forum itself (not the main menu row at the very top of the page), it doesn't take you to private messages at all, it takes you to your profile.

Secondly, when you receive a new private message there is no longer any notification of that fact. I've just had one and the blue writing in the left column still said i had no new private messages, and there was also no pop up box (I remember there used to be a pop up box when there was a new message). The only reason I found it was by going to check as I was expecting a reply to a message I sent.

So I think the private message functionality might need some looking into.
