Anyone gave birth in a private hospital without medical aid?

You will have to get a quote from the hospital where you plan to give birth, but its normally around R40 000 for a c/s and R 25000 for a natural birth, that does NOT include your gynie's costs, peadiatrician's costs and extras like epidural etc.

Birthing with a private midwife is much cheaper and usually an overall better experience, you will also have more options for birth, like birthing at a birth center, home or birth house facility, using a water birth bath during labour and being able to use a birthing position that suits your body as opposed to the standard hospital "lying on your back" birth position.

Get into contact with a midwife in your area and find out how they work, if you want a natural birth, you won't be sorry.

With my expirience the first time i had an emergency c section so i spend about R38 -40 000 at genesis , and even this time around am giving birth at parklane netcare is more or less the same, that's for everything.

Now with natural birth, on the paper i got from parklane, natural birth starts from R8000 and all will depend on how long you stay but am sure there will be costs for paed and other things. And am not sure if all netcares charge the same, and i have no experience with mediclinic.
Hope you get more clarity from other moms who gave birth naturally, but its definatly cheaper than c section and again depending where you give birth.or alternatively ask the hospital to give you a rough cost and you work with that.

Im a mom to be and just found out my medical aid wont cover my babies birth because i got on it pregnant, i wanted to know how much it costs to book a bed in a netcare or mediclinic hospital and the birth price and hospital stay. Anyone with info please help
