Julz - as you say, when she kept puking every time I offered her textured food, I did get myself into a froth.

But then I looked at her, and no one with that many fat rolls who sleeps through the night, and has never really been sick, cannot be healthy and fine.

I had a paed take a gander at her, and he also indicated that some kids do just take it differently to others.

So I wound my paranoia back a bit, and now we puree like no one's business. She gets Pronutro for breakfast, which she eats and that is coarse in texture.

She can eat a fling or a niknak - and as said now and then I can give her a small piece of bread.

I have realised she is able to put aside her tactile aversion when I give her a slither of chocolate, so clearly she will be okay in the end.

Rm mentions tactile issues which is normal for many kids. You may want to chat to a dietitian who could refer you to an ot to try and help you. It took Dylan quite a while to get used to textured food. If they are picking up weight try not to stress too much. I think if you make an issue out of it kids then use it to manipulate you later on.

Hi

I have a 13 month old little girl who refuses to eat solids. I am so stressed out about it, i cannot think straight. She is putting on weight nicely, and even to give her medication when she is ill is a mission on its own. I have tried everything one could possibly think of and I am unsuccessful. Is there anyone out there that can advise me what to do? I asked the doctor and he says, she will eat in her own time but when that time is coming, I don't have a clue. She only drinks milk, milk and more milk!!

Juliet - it is probably not the same thing, but my daughter is 17 months and I am still feeding her pureed food.

It is like Purity, but we make it at home and I have to puree it to the point where a 6 month old could eat it.

She won't eat finger food if I present it to her, and right now she is am only yoghurt of pureed food - we has started this month eating flings, and every now and then will take a piece of bread and sort of nibble on it.

Possibly an option is to look at what your daughter will eat with relish, versus what is probably age appropriate for her.

However I do take comfort in the fact that a baby will eat if they are hungry. If there is a no medical reason that they should be refusing food, then try to offer something you know she will eat i.e. custard.

The idea of course is not to not introduce the other foods, but if you are going through a patch where every meal is turning into a battle field, then opt to find food you know she will eat even if it is just a bit of it.

I am not sure if that point of view will assist you at all.

Hi Juliet

Have you taken her to the doc to make sure all is okay. Some kids have ear infections and you really can't tell.

the most important thing is not to stress about it. Kids don't starve themselves.

How much milk is she drinking? Some kids still get bottles at night at this age and shouldn't which can reduce the appetite.

Offer the food and one other option after that. If she doesn't eat don't stress just take the food away. She must learn that she must eat what is on offer or she will not get food. Offer again a couple hour later.

As long as her weight is fine try not to stress but just make sure that she is infact okay. x
good luck.
