file How to get one year old off Purity?

What does he eat in school??
Maybe get menus from them and do similar things at home, I mean if he is eating it there then he has no problem eating it at home.
I don't cook especially for my child (only did that when I was weaning and making my own purees) - he eats leftovers of what we had the night before or the occational Woolies kiddies meal (although he'll pack in 2 of those!), he eats a lot so even though I tried those Purity meals they were never enough, so I just stopped.
You need to start soon, as you will end up with a very fussy eater which is no fun at all.
My son will honestly try all foods, there are a couple of things he doesn't like (but then we all have our pet hates with foods!)

Lin try making your own mashed veges that are not as smooth as purity, but still not big chunks so that he can get used to more texture. All the yellow veges (butternut, gems, etc) freeze well, so you can make lots and freeze portions. If he really likes the taste of purity you can try mixing some in at first so that he gets used to new tastes. Then you can start making vegetable "stews", eg saute tiny bit of onion, add sweet potato, butternut, baby marrow, tiny bit of good vege stock and add enough water to cook veges, but not so much that you have to drain the water off. Because we're vegetarian I also add things like lentils, quinoa and beans. Then mash it up and try giving it to him. I sometimes stir in some grated cheese or smooth cottage cheese, which my son likes. I always make quite a big pot and then freeze the left overs in portions in small tupperwares that take 5-10 mins to cook from frozen on the stove.

It may take some time for your LO to get used to new tastes and textures, so try and be patient and persevere. Good luck.

Hi Lin, welcome! I have always done blw. So I've never mushed baby's food, but if I can take a stab at it... What about offering him stuff that is soft, like sweet potatoe and butternut? And then finger feed instead. If he likes something, does he not try to grab it from you?

Hi ladies,
My little boy turned one yesterday. He's still eating purity at night for supper. We went to the Spur last night (or late afternoon) for his birthday and I ordered the vienna and chips off the kiddies menu for him. He only took about 5 mouthfulls of some of the vienna and chips that I broke into smaller pieces and put it in his mouth. After a while he would seem nauseous and start crying. The pieces we put in his hand he threw on the floor. I realised that it's all my fault that my child is still not eating solid "grown-up" food by himself. Please help!! What can I do to "wean" him off the purity? And how do I get him to eat by himself? He has total 8 teeth - 4 at the top, 4 on the bottom. He's in school during the week. We only get home in the afternoons by 17:00 and then he's already cranky from hunger. He doesn't sleep much during the day, so by the time we get home, there's just time to heat up some purity (also cause he eats it without any fuss), bath and go down for the night by 18:30. He'll eat bread on weekends for lunch, but supper time is purity again!

Any advise and tips will greatly be appreciated!!
