Dont give up - you are doing great!

I also recommend a breast feeding consultant! They will defnitely be able to help you.

Good luck!

Firstly please dont give water - it will make your baby feel full and its not necessary:( It can also cause an electrolight imbalance. If you really want to avoid a feed rather do 2 bottles of formula:)

Oversupply is a common problem (actually more common than undersupply) The rule is the more baby sucks the more you will produce.
In the first 12 weeks your body is trying to regulate its supply and will often over compensate. The more you empty, the more you will boost supply. If you are really having an over supply nurse on one side per feed only. Then hand express the other side to relieve the engorgement (DO NOT EMPTY).

Dont worry, you'll miss the fullness soon, if you can believe it and be switch nursing and such to get the supply up.. I know..unbelievable
When my breast were very full I use to turn my baby so his chin was digging in the area where I felt a lump and then I would also put my finger there so those ducts cleared out first.. Anyway La leche is awesome and the ladies are nice so I'm sure this will be a thing of the past in no time!

Shame Novmum that sounds so terrible! Do you mind if I ask why are adding water and formula to your baby's diet if you have enough milk? My breasts were still leaking at this stage so I think your milk just has to get established.
Here is a la leche league link on the topic, www.llli.org/llleaderweb/LV/LVMarApr93p19.html this could help you see if maybe you can identify with any of the common causes.
Because the truth is this should not be happening! I feel so bad for you!
If you would like me to help you contact a lll leader in your area please shout, they are free btw.
It is caused by having too much milk, I would suggest keeping your breasts empty, so expressing whats left after baby feeds and when you go back to work your milk will level out if you are expressing on a schedule. (but I'm not the expert)
Are you taking something like esprin or eglynol?

Hello mommies

I need some advise :-(

My lb is 12weeks old and Iv had mastitis THRICE
When he was 2, 6 and 9weeks old.
He feeds every 2-3hrs during the day as well as night.

I try and squeeze in a water bottle after his bath in the mornings and formula bottle before bedtime.

I seem to hav an awful lot of milk and am worried sick abt returning to work not being able to bf him during the day

Regardless of my situation I am still going strong. I really want to continue once I return to wrk but Im scared ill get the infection again :-(

Is there anything I cn do to prevent this?
