Thanks for the article. To be honest it's mostly that I want him to get used to water so that he doesn't whine for something else when we are out :D

Voetjies - my son dropped his 11am bottle round about that age too so I wouldn't worry if she is not drinking that bottle. Just offer her some water or rooibos or whatever instead. I didn't do Purity so no idea on those quantities but I know by 8m my son was getting meat, veg and carbs for dinner rather than porridge. My paed said by 9m my son should eat whatever we ate (softer or pureed if necessary.) I found Anabel Karmel's book AMAZINGLY useful.

That said, if her current food regime is working for her and you then go for it :) As far as I can tell they all stop eating at 2 and then start again 4 so we're fekked either way :)

Hi girls,
My LG is 8 months.
She was breastfed till 4 months (then my milk dried up when I returned to work).
Drinks Nan 2.
Eats all the different purity’s, and I make her veggy/meat/pasta/rice noodles purities.
She drinks lots of water and loves it.
Lately, she doesn’t want her milk (sometimes). Sometime she drinks the bottle without any problems (still drinks every 4 or 5 hours), but other times it goes on for about 7 hours that she won’t really drink (takes a sip or 4 and then stop).
Her day pattern is basically this:
5:00 morning bottle (mostly just 100ml) (if she feels like it, otherwise it stands over till she gets to granny)
7:00 bottle (200ml, if not had above)
9:00 porridge
11:00 bottle (200 mℓ, mostly skip this one)
Then for snack ½ number 2 fruit purity
Lunch – veggies with meat/pasta/rice noodle/whatever purity
Snack ½ number 2 fruit purity
15:00 bottle (200 mℓ)
Dinner – porridge
Bottle before going to sleep around 19:00/19:30 (150 mℓ)
Wow, this sounds like a mouth full!

Oi, 1st timer, you made me skrik now when you posted about rooibos depleting the LOs' iron reserves! Lilly looooves her rooibos (I don't know why, cause I can't stand it). I googled and found this article on the Lance Armstrong Foundation page:

www.livestrong.com/article/282200-rooibos-tea-iron-absorption/

Voetjies, I started giving rooibos when I wanted to drop the morning milk feed but still give my LG a bottle as it was part of her nap ritual, the sucking made her sleepy. I'm sure it's fine to give from 6 months onwards, but preferably plain or mixed with formula.

Yogurt and all dairy should be full cream for babies up to 2 years (unless overweight).

Yoghurt from 6m just watch for tummy upsets. Give the full cream stuff from woolies or pnp.
Rooibos i've avoided as it apparently deplete's their iron or something plus I want J to get used to water. If under a year serve with cooled boiled water, if over a year you can add full cream milk.

How old is your little one and what is he eating so far?

Hi There, I gave my son from 6 months rooibos tea, just plain with a bit of brown sugar, no milk. That is off course your decision how you would prefer to give it.

He also got yoghurt from 6 months, I gave normal smooth yoghurt.
