file Any ideas on getting LG to take a freaking bottle

Thanks ladies

I will try giving formula in a sippy cup. I am not ready to give cows milk, but that's another story.

She has just started drinking water and juice from a sippy, so hopefully she'll take formula as well.

I did so many things! Holding him as if he is going to get b/fed and then popping the bottle in his mouth. Just sucked once or twice and then pushed it out.

Best for me was getting my cousin to do it. He did not like her to sit down at all. So she had to stand with him and after a few tries he was happy with bottle. But still wanted breastmilk from me

Anyhoo I think the sippy cup is best. Then you won't have to get rid of the bottle in a year or so :)

good luck

I see that your LG is one year old, why dont you introduce the sippy cup instead of the bottle now. ;)

Hi

How many times have you tried each bottle? I have always found that when introducing a bottle, you need to choose one that closely resembles your own nipple. Then, you need to offer the bottle several times, not just once. Sometimes babies take a bottle easier if it has the latex teat (softer), or if there is expressed breastmilk in it and then offer a bottle with formula once they've accepted the bottle. Have you let someone else offer the bottle? Try having granny or dad offer a bottle of formula during the day and you leave the house for a bit. If baby can smell the milk on you, then she's not going to want the bottle :D Babies are clever :D

Don't worry about not having enough milk, your body will produce the right amount for baby as long as baby keeps drinking. Don't forget that breastmilk is digested a lot faster than formula, which i why she might be waking or else she is waking to nurse for comfort.

Make sure she's getting enough milk and food during the day. I always try and give a carbohydrate rich evening meal rather than too many veg and protein as veg don't keep them full as long and protein is difficult to digest. If she's not eating enough during the day and waking at night because she is hungry then I doubt formula will change much of that and she might probably still wake from hunger.

You can also try cluster feeding her in the evenings, so b/feed / milk / healthy snack 2hrs before dinner, then b/feed after dinner but before bath, then b/feed after bath, then the bottle / b/feed just before bed.

You could also not even use the bottle and see if she will accept formula from a cup or sippy cup.

I am so tired. My LG won't take a bottle of milk. I have tried 3 different brands of bottles, 3 different brands of formula. I have not forced her yet... I want her to like it and down a bottle before bed, so that I can sleep train her and know she is not hungry!!!

She is still breast-feeding twice at night. I am not sure how much milk I have left, I don't think it is a lot, so it doesn't seem fair to take these night feeds away and she seems really hungry.

Any ideas? I feel like crying I am so tired
