help! how do I get my baby off the breast?

Thank you bulelwarm and sarah. I decided to follow your advice and get myself some aglenol, which would calm me a bit cause I am freaked out cause of the lack off sleep and thats not good for me and everyone in my house!

It will also make my milk more, maybe that was the reason that she didn't drink during the day. I had milk but no need of breastpads anymore so maby it wasn't enough.

Went to my gp yesterday cause of the flue and she adviced me to take her off immediatly and said she will cry for 2 weeks during the night and the she will be fine. Currently I don't have the energy for that, so will try expressing and feed more during the day.

Mina, when she bites you, does she look up to see your reaction.

My babies would do that. This is the advise I got, used and it worked for me.

When the baby bites you, look at her and give her a smack on the arm or leg but an exposed area where she can feel it and say no.
Do that everytime she bites....she will get the message.

I agree with Sarah, try to give her the milk in a bottle or sippy cup during the day and less water, especially the juice. I would avoid formula at all and rather express because that is best.

You can try and keep her up during the day so she can sleep for most of the night, or express milk and have dad give it to her during the night...

If she's not drinking during the day she's going to want to nurse at night. Try nursing her when she's sleepy during the day. Try expressing (or formula if you prefer) and giving her milk in a cup or a sippy cup during the day? At 8 months milk is still her biggest and most important form of nutrition so she still needs it.

Thanks for your advice. I came to the conclusion that she don't the breast during the day, cause that is when she bites me, BUT during the night she drinks every half an hour. I tried giving her water or juice during the day but she takes only about 150ml in total. Is that enough?

Any advice on how to get her not to drink during the night???

She wont take a bottle at night just cry until I put her on my breast!

Try this: When she bites, push her nose into your breast so she has to let go in order to breath. Then take her off the breast completely for a few minutes. She will quickly learn that biting means no boobies:)
If however you are really gatvol and at the end of your rope, start by replacing one of her day time feeds with a bottle, wait a few days for your body to adjust, then replace another (not a subsequant one), and so on until all her feeds are bottles. The night time feeds are usually the best to leave till last because this may be a comfort to her as well so you may land up with a few sleep issues for a short while....
As for formula? Sorry cant help, although most site seam to suggest that they are all more or less the same with the cows milk ones being the best first option:)

HUGS. Have you tried giving her teejel or something similar before nursing her to numb her gums so she doesn't bite too much? My little one has bitten me a few times and it is so sore but luckily only a few times.

I'm still breastfeeding so can't really offer much help. Has she had a bottle before? You can try nursing her a little then offer the bottle mid way through the feed and slowly decrease the time you nurse and increase the amount of formula you give her. Or, if you would prefer you can go cold turkey and just stop offering the breast and only offer formula, but then I would suggest you hand express a little to ease the engorgement as your milk starts to dry up.

My LG is 8 months old, she is my third baby and what a nightmare it has been so far! Everything is different. She is sooo difficult! She has got 2 teeth and is biting me that I want to cry! Just can't take it anymore. I love my children, but this little one makes me glad that there won't be any more! I want to put het on formula! Which should I use and how do I get her off? The other 2 weaned themself at 9months and 12 months. Please help!
