file When to drop evening bottle

My little girl is 2,8 years old and still has a bottle just before bedtime :woohoo:

I found this article, but if you read all the comments below you will see that obviously the answer is not that clear.

Issues raised seems to be tooth decay if teeth are not properly cared for.

Paige is 15 months and also has 500 ml's of milk a day, a bottle in the morning and then one at night before bed.

She also sleeps with a dummy.. I have no intention of weaning her off her milk feeds or bottle in the near future

Our paed also said 500 ml a day is fine , so fi your son is only on one bottle I wouldnt stress

Paisley Kaylee is 18 months and still gets 500mls milk a day which is necessary according to our paed, at her check up in Jan we discussed her feeds.

Kaylee gets a morning bottle when she wakes up and an evening bottle at bed time.
Then we leave a bottle of water in her cot for during the night.
She drinks tea and water / juice during the day.

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

I must just add, my son was and still is a very bad eater. So he got Horlicks in his evening bottle to make him a little bit fuller

Hi Paisley

We got rid of the evening bottle when William was about 2 years and 10 months, he decided that he wanted water before bed and he knows that he is not allowed to have anything in his bottle except milk, so we switch to a water bottle before bed.

I think you must let him decide, I promise you that he will not take it to grade one.

It is just my opinion

Hi there,

I am confused as to when to drop the evening (bed time bottle). My boy is 13 months and eats like a champion. Chooses veggies before meats, and really eats anything I dish up for him. He is currently on one milk feed per day (cows milk at bed time).

My concerns are:

- He is getting kinda chubby because he eats so well, and drinks 250ml of milk per day
- He would refuse to go down for bedtime without his bottle

I already have a pacifier I suspect the grade 1 teacher will need to throw that one away, I really do not want to battle with a second 'comforter'. He however never asks for his bottle during the day, and would rather ask for food or fruit, but as soon as we start his evening ritual he starts asking for the bottle. Is it to soon to wean him of the evening bottle purely because I am scared of my grade one going to bed with his bottie?
