Try roasted/steamed veggies - bellpeppers, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, carrots, potato wedges, eggplant

Raw veggies - tomato wedges, halved cherry tomatoes, cucumber fingers

Soft fruits - pawpaw, strawberries, guavas, melon, watermelon, plums, oranges, naartjies, grenadilla, cooked apples (in wedges), cooked quinces (in wedges), ripe pears, bananas, etc.

Meat & fish - strips of chicken/beef/pork, chicken drumsticks (easy to hold), flakes of fish. Even if she doesn't have teeth yet, she'll enjoy gumming these and sucking the juices (rich in iron) of the meat.

Cubes or fingers of cheese

Scrambled egg, omelet, egg mayo on toast

Pasta shapes

Rice bunched together with melted cheese, pasta, peices of cheese, rice cakes, proveta, fruit. Anything really.

Hi!

My little 1 is addicted to sliced mushrooms lightly fried in a bit of olive oil with garlic & parsley.
Seems they are just the perfect texture and are slippery & easy to swallow without choking if only slightly chewed.

Hey gals,

I want to start giving HK more finger foods. She will be 1 year in August.

Currently she is eating coarsely pureed foods (bit more textured than wooliesbaby), but I want her to start picking up foods and eating on her own with certain things....

Currently I have started putting her in her highchair, to associate highchair with food times. She is eating toast fingers and Nestle cereal (for crawlers) which she LOVES!

She has not mastered the "two finger pick up"motion yet, and just grabs a handful and sticks it in her mouth.

She chews fairly well, taking into account she only has 2 teeth! ;)

What other (preferably healthy) "finger foods"can I try her on? Any ideas will be appreciated.

FAITH MAKES THINGS POSSIBLE, NOT EASY!
