When to introduce solids to a baby

I think that as long as it's after 4months then it's really about bubs interest and readiness. I know some people that are really worried about allergies due to family history but unless there is a predisposition for allergies then I would not worry, there is always going to be conflicting pieces of reasearch.

I started DS at 4months despite the recommendation of 6months as there was bits of research coming through that 4months can be better but for me the most important thing was that he really wanted to eat. I was going to wait to start until after our xmas holiday but ended up starting before. During first solid meal DS grabbed the spoon from me and shoved it in his mouth and has loved food ever since.

Unfortunately i'm in the Eastrand but I've decided to take it quite slow with introducing solids so she can develop her digestive system properly.

I'm in a post natal class offered by a RN and the general consensus is to start with a cereal/pap at around 4 - 5 months and introduce different textures/flavours one at a time from there. She offers a hour long consultation at her baby clinic, so if you're in the Pretoria area you can contact her on babkliniek.hannekom@gmail.com for an appointment, alternatively make an appointment at your nearest well-baby clinic, they will advise you on what, when and how to best feed your baby.

I believe it would be any first stage food, the ones with the 6 months suggestion.

Today i went to a couple of stores, just to check on the baby food available. What I noticed is there was not one single baby food item that started at less than 6 months. So where do people get the food for 3, 4 or 5 months babies?

Please google the correlation of diabetes and cows milk. The beta lacto globuline is only found in cows milk and not in breast milk. A immature / infantile immune system reaction to this might be the link to early onset diabetes ( type1).

The problem is not digestion or allergies! It was in medical journals more than 15 years ago and is not new information, although on google it looks like new development.

It was the same with my little girl. Also exclusively breastfed and she started sleeping through at about 6 to 8 weeks, and has always been a good sleeper. We had a recent stage where it was a problem for the first time ever, but that's a whole other story.

Then along came my boy and he couldn't be more different than my first born, but I don't want to carry on about his eating and other health problems because that's not relevant here.

You know your child and what they need, but if they are healthy and happy and thriving there is no reason to rush solids....do it when you and baby are ready. I remember looking back fondly sometimes on the days where I could just pack her a bottle and be on my way.
