milk is still their main source of nutrition till 12 months as the ladies already stated. please do not drop a feed.

my lb had a milk feed when he wakes up, then breasfast, then milk feed2 hours later, lunch, milk, dinner, milk.
so he had a meal either solids or milk basically every 2 hours

me 35, DH 39

Hi NewMommy,

I wouldn't worry, he's still so little! 1l milk per day is considered the "maximum" if baby is also eating solids, and he's still far from that.

My LO dropped each of her bottles when she was ready, at 12 months she only had the morning and evening bottles left. I never consciously took any of her milk feeds away, she just started pushing it away and refusing to have it. I'd keep trying every day for about 10 days, and then I'd stop offering.

Every child is different, some are completely weaned off the bottle by 12 months. Unless your paediatrician has concern about excessive weight gain, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi NewMommy,

No, don't drop a feed, if you feed as much as he wants then it is perfect, remember, the solids that they start on now is just to get them used to eating and to supplement their iron and other such nutritious needs. Milk is still their main source of nutrition.

You will see, he will show you when he wants less - My LG is 15 months and she's still on 3 bottles per day.

Hi mommies,
I am starting to think that I am giving my LB too much milk. Started solids at 6 months and now at 7 months we are up to 3 meals a day.

However, he nurses in the morning when he wakes up, then gets a 150ML bottle with breakfast, bottle 150ml again at 10:30 then lunch at 11:45 (which he eats very reluctantly) then another 150ml bottle at 14:30 and dinner between 5and6pm. And then he nurses to sleep.

Is that too much milk? Should I drop a milk feed?

Thank you,
NewMommyCPT
