Yes, good idea. I think add perhaps what traits you are looking for in a Pead. Is the pead willing to answer all "silly" mommy questions patiently?
I don't really think any questions are silly, but certain peads get irritated with general questions about your child's health. If you prefer a more holistic approach like attachment parenting, perhaps ask for a doctor that suits your outlook in parenting. Best of luck! x

Thanks for all the responses!

As soon as she said that, I decided there's no way I'm going back there.

@karmie yes, he has 3 meals a day as well as snacks! Never skips a meal.

@gloei unfortunately I'm in cape town :( think I'll start a new topic to aski for some recommendations!

Thanks all

Amyreally,

I would run from that Pead ASAP!! I have met so many horrible impatient Peads who gave terrible advice (at least in my opinion). I have finally found a wonderful one and we are totally on the same page. Keep searching.

If you are in PTA I can recommend mine... B)

Agree with Zaza and Amy.

I assume your LO is on solids as well? As long as the milk is not causing him to skip meals, you are definitely not doing anything wrong.

Every four hours during the day is actually in my opinion a good stretch between feeds, assuming your LO sleeps a bit longer during the night.

The IBC Lactation Consultants at our Breastfeeding Clinic always tell me you cannot get an overweight breast-baby. My LG is just over 7 months now and she weighs about the same as your 9 month old, but she is tall as well. So in perfect proportion.

Keep doing what you doing!

Haha Amy. I think it's time for a new pead ;)

Honestly, I cannot remember how often I breastfed my two at 9 months. 9 months is still so young, if he gains fine and you both are happy continue as you are now. At this age babies get most of their nutrients from milk anyways!

And if you want to nurse till 5, go for it! :D

Thanks Zaza and congrats on baby no. 2

She actually really irritated me. Said that my LO is gonna get hooked on the boob. And do I want to breastfeed him until he's 5! I mean really.
She then proceeded to tell me I need to get him out of my bed, sounds like it's time for sleep training. I just smiled and nodded. I am definitely going to find a different paed.

My son isn't overweight at all. He's 8.8kg

Sigh

Dear Amy

I can't remember how often I did when my LG was 9 months, all I remember was it when she was hungry and when my breast were full was a pretty good indication it's a time for feed.

I am not sure why your paed would think every 4 hours is too much cause there is no real way to measure how much milk the baby is getting from the breast.

And I was told it is also dependant on the KG's of your child, a larger baby will need milk more often.

I would not stress too much if baby is growing well and they healthy not over weight it should be normal.

I hope you get more feedback on this one, I am expecting baby number 2 and forgot most things so your post and the feedback will def help me recall things

All the best, you do what you feel is best for your baby!!!
