Thank you very much! The past few days he's turned it around again completely - he is very eager to eat but doesn't want to finish his milk. Now I am worried again that he's not drinking enough milk :-) So I suppose they just go through phases where they either want more milk or more food.

Hi Charlie, from what I have read babies this age need about 600ml of milk a day, but it is stressed that until they are 1 year old, milk should be their main source of food and aolds jut for fun. What I do with my son is I decrease his milk intake for the feed just before his solids, that way he is peckish for lunch. I find that he doesn't like cereals and prefer home made purees and for cereals he has at most 2 tablespoons before he refuses.

Good luck

Hi there

How much solids should my 7 month old boy eat per day? I started him on cereal at 5 and a half months and he ate very eagerly. Then he got bronchiolitis at 6 months and completely lost his appetite for almost 3 weeks (he would only drink milk, refused to eat solids). For the past week and a half he's been eating solids again, but only about 2 tablespoons twice a day (cereal in the morning and fruit or veggies in the evening). He drinks about 800 - 900 ml of milk per day. Even if I wait until I know he is really hungry he doesn't eat more than that, mostly he actually eats less in that case because he starts crying for his bottle. Should I start to decrease his milk to try to get him to eat more?
