file MY BABY WONT EAT, PERIOD!!!

I'm with the other moms advising rather wait with the solids and give baby (and yourself) a break from all that stress. Concentrate on milk, and don't worry about solids until next month (or the month thereafter). Your big (little) guy isn't losing weight, so there is no need for concern. I so wish there wasn't all this pressure at clinics and among moms about weight...

My LG was born 3.7kg and they stressed me out big time at the clinic about her growth chart. At 6 months she weighed 7.4kg (exactly double her birth weight) but it's like they just give you a hard time if baby is not gaining weight along that solid black line. Then you must be a bad mom or something. Er, no.

It could be that your baby is teething and has lost his appetite (entirely normal and the same thing happened with my LG). It could also be that baby was born a little late (? mine was born a week late) so that extra weight in the womb shouldn't really be counted. Just feed him his milk and don't worry; before you know it he'll be emptying your fridge. :woohoo: My LG is now 21 months and weighing a healthy 12.5kg.

My Girl didn't want to eat at all until she started going to a daycare and saw that all her friends was eating.

i also started with finger food she could hold in her hand however if you give this you must be very careful as they can choke easily.

Ditto.

I had the same problem with baby that didn't want to eat. Kept on giving him his milk though.

He came right at the end. He's now a happy, healthy 3,5 year old and weighs 21 kg's (he's extremely tall for his age).

It may be a bit early for him. Even though our paed told us to start at 4 months he wasn't keen. I left it for a couple weeks and then started again.

They start of slowly so all they need to eat is a spoonful at one meal per day for the first week or two and milk is still most important at this age so offer solids only once he has had a milk feed.

He may be hungry and the solids will only frustrate him. Milk first, solids after. x

Euphre i suspect he simply isn't ready to start solid foods yet and you should go back to milk only for a few more weeks and then try again. Don't force it.

Kid's gain weight at different rates and if he was born with a high birth weight then he probably will gain slower than someone born with a low birth weight. I don't think 6.5kg at 4 months is too low, but if you're concerned take him to a clinic to be weighed and ask them if they think he is underweight.

I've also heard some ladies say that when the start solids so young they start by just adding one teaspoon of cereal powder to the evening milk bottle. Perhaps you could try that instead of actual cereal if you really feel he needs "solid" food.

Think of it this way - for 4 months he had only milk. There is no way he is gonna get bored with only cereal. But whatever you do, do not force feed, you will create havoc in the future for yourself.

Who recommended solids ? Normally you would only start when he has doubled his birth weight.

If he is not liking it, perhaps he is not ready for it. When it comes to feeding, you really need to follow your child's lead. He will let you know when he is ready.

as for his weight, unless your doc / clinic sister is concerned please don't worry. Liam is almost 2 and still weighs 9kgs and he is happy, healthy and (over) active.
