17 month old wants to feed herself everthing.

I know the feeling.

What I do now is I feed Dylan in his High chair only. I give him a bowl of his food and a spoon and I take an extra one and shovel extra food in to make sure he gets some but it is important to let them feed themselves.

Surprisingly he doesn't make that much mess.

The dog gets ready next to him for all the scraps. lol

Just put a towel under her chair, a dish cloth around her neck and leave her to it !
Believe me it will make your life so much easier.

I have a 3 1/2 year old who will not eat by himself, cos I was such a "neat freak" when he was still a baby and stopped him from feeding himself cos of the mess, and it is a nightmare.
On the other hand I have a 23 month old, who eats perfectly on his own, very little mess, cos I just closed my eyes to the mess.

oh i think spitting food out has become a new thing with my Emily. She munches on something and then uses her tongue to spit it out her mouth. I pray for patience each day...

I now let her feed herself, I just clean up the mess every time. Another thing she loves is to eat whole apples. She bites and chews but does not swallow. She spits the apple all over the place. LOL

angelique is gonna be 3 next month and you must c the floor after she has had rice and gravy or even noodles or spagetti, oms, cause she is one of those eaters a real woman, eat eat eat, oh ja, swing of fork as she turns around to tell you caleb threw sand in her hair today and i must piets him, eat eat eat and forkful swing of hand bla bla bla eat eat eat again... so it goes... and as you can see from photos, bardon is quite the messy eater himself

Just throw a blancket or towl on the floor, it helps a lot!

Its really good for their fine motor skills to feed themselves.

What I usually do to my LG, while Im feeding her she has a spoon or a piece of food in her hand so then I trick her and get a few spoonfulls in!
