Triphasil will dry up your milk as it contains progesterone.
The microvil aka minipill only contains estrogen which is why its safe for breastfeeding.
I'm really surprised your gynae is letting you go on it without asking if you're breastfeeding?
You should stick to the mini pill as long as you intend to breastfeed.

There is theory that if you breastfeed every 4 hours, it will stop you from ovulating. But this includes night time feeds. And therefore you dont have to take it at exactly the same time each day.
But if your feeds are longer than this, or if you are formula feeding in the day and breastfeeding at night or something, then you must take it same time each day, and probably use condoms for good measure too.

Vash as far as I'm aware you should not take triphasal while BF?
Combined contraceptives may decrease the quantity and quality of breast milk. For this reason, progestin-only oral contraceptives (microval "mini-pills") are almost always recommended instead of combined contraceptives in breastfeeding women who desire to take a birth control pill.

So i'm digging up this old thread because my baby will be 6 months soon and i've now been put on Triphasil. I still want to breastfeed for as long as i can but i've read that this pill will reduce the quantity and quaility of my milk. Anyone else using triphasil while breastfeeding?

I guess i just have to stick with it. I noticed that i haven't been gaining weight with it but i haven't lost any weight since starting on it. It also makes me so moody that i pick fights with DH almost everyday.

Ladies there are option but you need to decide what is best for your body and what is easier to use.
Microval is the only tablet that can be used while breastfeeding.
Other option is condoms and the state clinics offer the 2or3mnths injection birthcontrol, but the gynies do not recomment the injection at all.
and when you have the 6 week check-up you can have the "loop" inserted.

I used all of the above after my babies and believe me when each contraceptive there will be side effects and its best to speak to your gynie for more or the best option.

Good luck
