*Feed on demand, about every 2 hours or so

*In the first few days, wake baby to feed every 2 hours or so during the day so he gets practise BF so when your mature milk comes in after the colostrum he is more efficient at emptying the breast.

*Don't time feeds, allow baby to empty the breast before swapping sides. Remember baby needs the fore and hind milk and if you time feeds and swap sides after 5 mins he will only be getting fore milk.

*To relieve discomfort you can stand in a warm shower and hand express a little milk to help soften the breast if it is very full. You can also hand express a little before feeds to make it easier for baby to latch

*If you do get a blocked duct, allow baby to feed to help clear the duct.

*See a lactation consultant.

*Make sure baby is latching properly.

*Relax and enjoy the time with baby

I need some breastfeeding advice or rather support!!

I BF my first baby for 14 days only, got mistites and it was just a horrible experience. My second baby is due on the 5th of October and i really want to BF this time.

I would appreciate the best advice you have.
