Doula help please ???

Nicolette, I have been in contact with Avis who is giving the course in Durban. It cost's R2500. But attending the course isn't a problem because its one saturdaya month.
I am just worried how I will get the practicals done since there are no Doula's in Zululand itself. I have been told I can then witness a birth alongside a midwife but we have no midwives in my area that operate independently. They all work for the hospital.
Think I will have to have a chat with the hospital manager maybe.

Missesmom- are you doing your practicals in a private hospital or government?

I am busy doing mine. I am going through W.O.M.B.S - they are very good, and I'm sure they can help you.
You do your practicals by basically doing volenteer work at the hospital.

The total cost is around R2000

Has anyone here done the Doula course? Who did you do it through? How much did it cost you?

My main question though is how you did your practicals? I am very eager to do the course. But I live in Zululand and there are currently no Doula's in my area so practicals will be a bit of a mission. How else can I get my practicals done?
