Water Birth in hospital

LittleOne, I used midwife Angela. I was with Dr Jacky Searle, but she never came to the actual birth

Medi clinic has a unilateral ban on waterbirths - because their idiots!
Anyway, your best chance at a waterbirth in hospital would be a private midwife at Vincent Pallottti hospital - in particular Angela Wakeford as she prefers her clients hire her own birthpools. VPH does have baths but they are somewhat shallow and so limit your manoeverability.

There's also a private midwife run maternity home in Rondebosch - unfortuantly not all the midwives are skilled in waterbirths and you can't book your own midwife but may ne worth considering in terms of using water for pain relief www.alnisamaternityhome.co.za
An even better option is to have a homebirth with a midwife & then hire a birthing pool - I rent them out - www.birthworks.co.za

Medi Clinic as a whole does not do water births.
I was told that they decided the risk for infection was too high.

It's so hard to find hospitals in the North that do water births. I would've preferred going to Louis Leipoldt, Durbanville or Cape Gate Medi Clinic but I don't think any of them facilitate waterbirths

Tell me which Gynae did you use?

Vincent Pallotti does, I had a waterbirth vbac exactly 2 months ago today. It really was lovely!

Are there hospitals/Gynae's in Cape Town other than the Mowbray Maternity Hosp that do water births? If so, has anyone experienced this?
