Hello Ladies
My sincerest apologies for only writing again now. By now dr. Truter is already in PE and a lot of you have already had a chance to meet him.
My appointment was quite a quick one. I don't think I spent more than 8 minutes in his room. This was our first scan. I must confess I was a bit dissapointed at not being offered to listen to the baby's heartbeat. I should've probably asked for it. I was 10 weeks and 2 days at the time and decided to wait until 10 weeks to make sure a heartbeat could be heard. But as mentioned, I probably should've asked to hear it. I also only got one photo printed and about 3 on my memory stick.
I was actually still very ill at the time I went for the scan, so I just wanted to know there was a baby - in other words a reason I've been feeling so horrible and also whether it was only one, so hearing the heartbeat was not on my priority list then - I know - how can it not be. I felt like I was expecting at least 3 with the way I've been sick. How can only one make one feel this miserable

Although I did voice my concerns that I haven't been able to hold down any food or water/beverages for the last 5 days, it seems again (as per my previous post), that I was considered a bit of a drama queen, but it really was that bad. I also mentioned that the pills I was prescribed by my GP - Asics - as Vomiphene is no longer available, wasn't working at all. I wasn't offered anything other than being told, "it will start to better at around 14 weeks"
Since my scan was done in the last week that dr. Truter was still there, he referred me to dr. Smit in Worcester.
I am very happy with dr. Smit. I phoned him when I was still very sick and he faxed me a prescription and told me if I can't keep anything down by the next day (which was the Thursday and I haven't eaten or been able to keep anything down since the Saturday), I would need to go to the hospital. Luckily, either the pills worked - or because I was going towards 12 weeks the extreme nausea had subsided.
I am happy to say that I am 16weeks + 2 today and I'm feeling much better for the last 2 weeks. Only had a couple of headaches and dizziness in week 14, but I'm not complaining as I'm feeling a lot better than the previous 6 weeks.
Dr. Truter was very friendly though and made a joke or two and when he referred me to my new gynie I asked him if the new gynie was pro normal birth (just so that I have a choice) and from the way he spoke, I could hear that he too was pro normal birth, so I'm sure you will be happy.
I hope all is doing fine otherwise. I will be doing some reading on the forum as I'm sure I've missed out on quite a bit.
