I agree, this process is indeed a very mysterious one. It is so hard to tell what actually helped and what not? There are no certainties when it comes to birth.

Loads of women do take it, so don't let my opinion sway your ideas.

Thank you gloeiwurmpie. Now I feel a bit unsure... I really like the tea, so might just take it in a low dose in any case.
I have had a cervix that didn't play along at all last time and didn't budge at all at 41 weeks...

Argh, the dates - tried that last time. Ate so much, I couldn't eat another one for about 18 months. And the walking and the sex. Gmf. Been there, done that. Seems that things either just work, or they don't.

Hi Haffie,

I asked my Midwife about the tea today. She is of the opinion that I shouldn't take it (also a VBAC hopeful). She says it does produce stronger contractions and that if your cervix isn't favorable, this isn't a good thing because contractions without a favorable cervix is just counterproductive.
She is of the opinion that the only 2 things that really gets things going is walking and sex - from her experience through the years.

But opinions about this varies quite a lot, some women say that they believe it helped them others regret taking it.

I guess this is one of those personal decisions that one must make for yourself. :)

I am eating about 7 dates per day...he he he he...So, I guess each one to their own method.

I have been drinking the tea now for a few weeks. I bought the loose tea leaves from a health shop (discem also has them), and every night i make a pot.
I mix it with a tiny bit of berry juice to just add some sweetness, and drink it as an iced tea through out the day. I drink about 1,5 litres a day.

I can honestly feel a huge difference in the braxton hicks contractions ive been getting. It just feels like they are actually meaninful, and not just uncomfortable. Dont know how to describe it really, but overall it has sooo many good effects, even if I didnt feel a difference I would still recommend it. Also very good for breastfeeding.

1st pregnancy - We had a natural birth at home with our midwife. It was a dream come true!

2nd pregnancy - 2012 Miscarriage at 12 weeks (blighted ovum)

3rd pregnancy - 2012 Miscarriage at 7 weeks

4th pregnancy - 2013 Twins Miscarriage at 6 weeks 4 days

3 Sept 2014 - Saw and heard our little heartbeat.

I bought it from a health shop.

It was like drinking enfused water, so I would do it again if the bottle I have is still good ;) I might skip the evening primrose oil inserting this time though!
