UIF Procedure

UIF wont accept your papers until you are actually on maternity leave (for some reason their system can't handle future dated applications )

However, it might be a good idea to get everything ready as soon as possible, cause it can be a real hassle driving up and down.
Specifically, make sure your company knows to submit the UI19 form online, they wont accept the actual papers from you anymore.

As for the calculation, it depends on your salary, they will pay between 38% and 58% of your salary, (the higher your salary, the lower the percentage).

Also, you can never receive more than 100% of your salary, so if your company pays 80%, they will only pay 20% etc.

Found these sites on a google search - they set it out nicely - the ceiling amount might have increased though, not sure how up to date the site is

With my first, I had NO issues at all, literally walked in and walked out, and first money paid withing 4 weeks.
With my second, one of my forms was incorrect, and it took me about 6 trips and two months to get registered. but once all the papers were correct and submitted, I got my first payment within 6 weeks.

Can anyone tell me when can you start submitting the UIF claim forms from Dept. of Labour? I hear it can be a hussle and nightmare one lady I know she was saying she didn't get the money until she returned to work

I also need to know how are they calculating the money that they're paying you. I'll really appreciate someone with clue on this as I don't get paid my full salary during M/L I only get 10% of my salary.
