I'm also thinking he did a sweep to "help you along".

Sorry you are still sore. Next time tell him to back off. You really don't need internals at this stage. You can also check yourself, its easy...

Just make sure your hands are clean :-)

Dd is 6
Ds is 4

Our surprise .....

ahhh..SHame Berry, I remember the "waiting game" all too well. It really is frustrating to know that baby has about a month window to arrive.

Perhaps your doctor did do a sweep without telling?! My midwife said that it isn't possible (or perhaps it would have been very painful?) to do a sweep if the cervix is completely closed. Don't know if I understood her correctly.

xx

Thanks for the reply Gloeiwurmpie.

It hurt so bad that I almost jumped off the table. Was even wondering if the Gynae did a membrane sweep without telling me. I didn't have any spotting.

Think I was just being paranoid. I am also at the stage where with every cramp I get I think this must be IT now haha!

I had about 3 internal exams between 38 weeks and 41,5 weeks. None of them really hurt alot, just a bit uncomfortable. Perhaps it could be the position of baby's head that made it so painful, not sure.

I understand that the softening of the cervix is more important than how dilated you are. I wasn't dilated at all with any of my internal exams but the cervix was favorable. You can go dilated in a very short amount of time once labor has begun.

Those last few weeks I thought I was in labor at least once a day. LOL.
Had so many cramps and strange aches and pains. Then one day the cramps just got more intense and more intense.

Wishing you the best. xx

Hi Laides,

I am 37 weeks pregnant and had my first internal exam this morning. It hurt so much that I wanted to cry. And it still hurts. The Dr said that I was not yet dilated.

I would like to know if anyone went into labour after having an internal exam or is that just wishful thinking on my side?
